Last Chance

posted by on October 15 at 9:05 AM

John McCain and Sarah Palin have been talking a big game about what’s going to happen in tonight’s debate, and who’s going to whip who’s “you know what.”

Meanwhile, here’s the New York Daily News’s take on the match-up, which begins at 6 p.m. PST. (With liveblog right here on Slog starting at 5:30 p.m.!)

That's a ridiculous caricature! No way McCain can lift his arm that high. Not even close!

Obama's win percentage on fivethirtyeight.com went up to 95.8% today (with a projected 361 electoral votes) with the new set of state polls.

McCain pretty much has to do something dramatic tonight. I'm bummed that I will only be able to watch the last 1/2 hour live...

Anything can happen, but isn't it more than a bit unlikely McCain will "stage a comeback." One debate out of three, months of campaigning, and a rock solid performance from Obama over the past few months, all wiped away because McCain shows up and says AYERS! AYERS! WRIGHT! WRIGHT!??

I think the media needs the horserace narrative. expect after Nov 4th for the narrative to talk about how it was obvious to anyone and everyone that McCain was going to lose.

John B - don't you have some important pedophile-defending that you should be doing?

@3 That's my worry, too. So far, all the news is about how McCain has been struggling. There have been some seeds sewn about how McCain came from behind during the primaries, suggesting that it is unwise to count him out.

I'm more concerned about the narrative spin than I am about the youths actually voting on Nov. 4.
