Yesterday both McCain and Palin called her to offer condolences. Wonder what they'll say today...

Carving the B on her face backwards would be the first clue. What a moron.

Race-baiting hoax hijinx from somebody involved in the McCain campaign? ¡No es posible! Shocked, shocked, I tell you!

This reminds me of the story that Susan Smith made-up. Does this little pig have any kids who are missing?

The bruise exhibits no swelling. The B is backwards, and was done lightly enough not to break the skin. She couldn't describe the attacker other than he was black.

Makes sense to me!

I would also like to point out that it is physically impossible to carve a backwards "O."

The woman is a genius.

The shiner is also way too developed to be from the day after the attack. She's almost recovered from whatever hit her face (boyfriend?) Girl's got problems, all right.

But yeah, it's nice story. Gave all the kooks a chance to REALLY explain what a random black mugger in Pittsburgh has to do with Obama: "well, you see, they're both, uh...."

Oh, and John Bailo: FUCK YOU and the horse.

And this little cutie isn't the only one. There seems to be quite an epidemic of college republicans faking assualts at the hands of us evil, aggressive, hate-filled liberals. And getting caught:

It should be fun to watch the McCain campaign and their propaganda mouthpieces (FoxNews, Drudge) try and spin this one...they'll probably try and claim she's really a democrat who did all this this to try and humiliate the McCain campaign (of course ignoring the fact that she is a very active College Republican and McCain volunteer.

Nice going! Thanks for putting another nail in the McSame/Failin' coffin!

Another lame attempt to touch off a race war. Just like that crazy lady in South Carolina back in the 90s. A sad cry for attention from an obviously deranged young woman, but, seriously, what a ma-roon!

A Fox veep already said "If the incident turns out to be a hoax, Senator McCain’s quest for the presidency is over, forever linked to race-baiting." They're backpedaling now, but fuck them. The race is over. John McCain is the most dishonorable man to run for president since George Wallace.

And Sarah Palin belongs in jail. She gave out the contracts for that sports complex in Wasilla, near her house, in exchange for the contractors building her house for her -- damn near the same thing Ted Stevens is going to the pokey for.

GOP: the party of crooks and crazy people.

Like someone mentioned before, this definitely is reminiscent of the Susan Smith case back in the 90s, where she killed her children then lied and said she got carjacked by a black man. She got what she deserved - life in prison. In my opinion, life in prison is worse than death as a penalty for a mother who commits infanticide because they must think about what their children could've become if they were still alive.

Lol, I remember my baby sister once bit herself and told my mother that it was me, so that way I would go to the time out chair and she would get to play with my stuff. She was 6 years old. I have no idea how fully grown adults go through with plans like this. It requires absolutely no sense of shame or common decency.

This is worse than committing a crime and then blaming some hypothetical black person to get the blame off you, this isn't fabricating a crime so you can specifically blame someone that you hate, this is fabricating a crime just so you can blame a theoretical black person. Wtf?

@30 and 46 - It's Pittsburgh, actually. And I'm impressed all the more because the PD there had been under a consent decree for racism for a long time (don't know if it has been lifted yet or not).

I knew this story stunk yesterday. Bloomfield was primarily Italian, but is pretty mixed these days. The street where she claimed "to be assaulted" has lots of foot traffic well into the evening.

Ashley Todd could go to jail for up to a year and be fined $2,500. Yay!

That said, I don't think she should be on prison welfare at the expense of Pennsylvania. She should be charged, fined, and sent back to Texas.

WOW. Props to the commenters who called this yesterday. It sounded fishy (especially the 6'4" black man who supposedly did it) but I didn't think anyone could stoop so low. I hope she gets to share a cell with a 6'4" black woman.

#49 I didn't know about the consent decree regarding racism on the burgh police. I lived there most of my life (6 years in Bloomfield even) and have always said western Pa is the most racist place I've ever been and I've lived all over the country. Funny they'd need to import any from Tx though.

Kind of like the radical religious extremists always do in the first decade after every end of the century.

@50,

Yeah, I actually looked up the intersection on Google Maps and looked at the street view, because I'm obsessive like that. There are restaurants and cafes aplenty within feet of that ATM. I can absolutely believe that a robber could get away with a mugging there, but a protracted assault? No fucking way.
