What, you guys lost power?

Fremont didn't notice. We were dancing and partying up a storm!

Nice one, Dominic! I assume you mean The Social Life of Small Urban Spaces by William Whyte. My proselytizing is taking effect.

Ha, I was at the Twilight Exit. Didn't notice a thing.

I had just lit up the fire pit on our patio for the first time of the season, preparing to sit with a friend and some beers, when the power went out.
It turned into a neighbor congregation point late into the evening.
It was fantastic.

I was on my cell phone, talking with my brother in Spokane and getting ready to go out to dinner with friends, when the power shut off. After wandering out to the street to check out what was going on (not helpful), I went back in, got out a flashlight, and did my best to get dressed and ready to go in the half light. (Applying eyeliner by flashlight-- good times.) When I got home at midnight, I slipped into bed in the velvet dark quiet and slept a wonderful sleep until about 6:30 a.m., when I noticed that the power was back on and therefore I would be able to proceed with my pancake party plans. It was nice, actually. I like the simplicity of blackouts. Glad to have the CD News Blog to find out the whys and whats.

There was a power outage in Seattle? What is this, The Mayberry Gazette?

The boyfriend and I decided to stay at home instead of the customary running out to the nearest place with alcohol and electricity, mostly because we were halfway through making dinner (thank goodness for a gas stove) and wanted to finish. After dinner we enjoyed Scrabble by candle light and using the last of the laptop's battery to watch a DVD before bed. Kind of made for a nice Saturday night, actually.

Well I was so drunk that I blacked out but the power was on both before and after that happened.

It SUCKED. I had gone out for a bit, then rented The Godfather & Entourage season 4, disc 1 - only to come home to no power! I ready articles on my iphone instead, and went to sleep early. Boo hiss.

@11, 9 PM? Way to pace yourself, monkey.

Sorry for your sucky night, Raven, but after hearing your story, I'm certain the blackout was God's way of telling you (and everyone) that renting the DVD of The Godfather while a new 35mm print is playing at the (non-blacked-out) Cinerama is a sin.

Pretty sucky as well. The outage occurred directly in front of my apartment, so by the time I got home from my 10-hour rehearsal at about 10:30 p.m. the City Light crews had already taken over the entire street. Parking down the block wasn't such an imposition, but when they started in with the Harley-powered tree saws at about 2:30 a.m. (and which in fact didn't stop until around 4:00 a.m.), I knew my Sunday "10-out-of-12" rehearsal was going to be a very long one.

BTW, I don't know where you got the "power restored by 3:00 a.m." information, but as of 9:00 a.m. on Sunday, they were still stringing line in front of my house, and apparently we didn't get power back on my part of 22nd, until mid-day.

The power went off across the street, but my cable internet service (Broadstripe) went down. Which was initially a pain, but ultimately a pleasant break for the rest of the weekend. When I left at 9am this morning the internet was still missing at my house (18th & Spring).

OH WAIT, I wasn't home at 9pm and didn't black out until much much later. I really did pace myself, Fnarf, honest.

Me and some of my neighbors headed over to Presse for a lovely dinner. The lights were back on when we got home so we finished off the evening hanging out drinking beer.

oh, that's why the lights kept flickering in my 'hood....we must have been just over the edge from the blackout area.

No blackouts in my neighborhood, though I bet we'll have an epic one after the first big windstorm. I plan to celebrate by eating canned food, wearing two sweaters, and playing Scrabble by candlelight.

Luckily the power stayed on at 23rd and Union, so the crack-flow wasn't affected.

@25: hilarious!

We were having a small party at my apartment that night, so it was really difficult to grill by moonlight and candles. It was even more difficult to get my Geometry Wars on. I also managed to get hot candle wax all over my arm, tv remote, couch, and carpet.

I am on 21st between union & marion. We heard the transformers blow and our lights flickered but we kept power all night. My friend on first hill lost power for 3 hours. sux to be U. I heard recently that 21st ave is on the same power line that feeds providence hospital. high priority line!! Awesome to be me!!

We're on 25th between Union and Pike...no black out for us but the lights did flicker around 4 times. I think we missed totally losing power by one block. The way the wind is blowing now though, I wouldn't be surprised if it goes out again. Seems we always lose power around here.

We had no power so we went and drank to our hearts delight at a bar with power. =)

The Swedish on 18th and Jefferson was running its generators, big black noisy smoke. It was eerie, it was the loudest sound in the area, and coaxed me out of the dark cold house to investigate...

A lovely night for a walk, found a friend later and got drunk. Yay.
