Slog - Comments on For Sale

The Windermere listing of former WaMu chief Stephen Rotella’s Capitol Hill home doesn't include an address or a picture of the front of the $6.25 million house. But a Slogger teased out the address—1642 Federal Ave. E.—and so I rode over and took a picture. Nice place, lots of "curb appeal." Can't imagine why they didn't include a photo of the front of the place. Oh, and there's not a "For Sale" sign out front either....

Comment by Catalina Vel-DuRay

Maybe it's the result of my tender years being spent at the Olympic Hotel, but I can't imagine living in something like that. Way too plush and foo-foo for my tastes. I bet the windows don't even open.

I'm happy with my little rambler, thank you. If I were to move up, it would be to one of those fabulous ranches in a neighborhood like Seward Park or Olympic Manor - but it would have to be non-updated. Nothing worse than an updated ranch. People just don't know how to do it right.

Yikes, I'm feeling a little motion sickness after looking at that listing. Is the super-duper wide-angle lens really necessary here? I get why photogs use a wide-angle lens to make a small place look bigger -- I don't approve, but I get it -- but this place is over 7,000 square feet for chrissakes.

Clearly this home represents a substantial investment, and as such it seems to me that he should expect the same return as WaMu's investors got in the buyout. 0.27 on the dollar would make this worth about 1.69M. Sounds reasonable. Anyone want to make an offer?
