For Sale

posted by on October 19 at 18:30 PM

The Windermere listing of former WaMu chief Stephen Rotella’s Capitol Hill home doesn’t include an address or a picture of the front of the $6.25 million house. But a Slogger teased out the address—1642 Federal Ave. E.—and so I rode over and took a picture. Nice place, lots of “curb appeal.” Can’t imagine why they didn’t include a photo of the front of the place.

Oh, and there’s not a “For Sale” sign out front either.

Mr. Rotella --
As you no longer have access to the WaMu Blog, please consider responding via your Capitol Hill Neighborhood Blog, http://capitolhillseattle.com, where any neighbor can post. Even Dan.

Mr. Rotella respond here, if he likes, on a blog that people actually read.

In addition to a partial view of the Space Needle, it is close to the #49.

Can I get one of those sweet no-money-down, ultra low-ball starting interest-rate mortgages on this shack? Could have some fun rave parties in there for a while.

It has an Olmstead Brothers-designed garden.

Swoon. I could act out all my deepest costumed Edith Wharton fantasies.

Edith Wharton fantasies! That's kinky. I think you need a brownstone for that.

Sure, he's asking 6.25 million but, c'mon what is he willing to sell it for

I would pay $75 for the kick ass hydrangea bush out front

Maybe it's the result of my tender years being spent at the Olympic Hotel, but I can't imagine living in something like that. Way too plush and foo-foo for my tastes. I bet the windows don't even open.

I'm happy with my little rambler, thank you. If I were to move up, it would be to one of those fabulous ranches in a neighborhood like Seward Park or Olympic Manor - but it would have to be non-updated. Nothing worse than an updated ranch. People just don't know how to do it right.

@1, in case you didn't know, steve's wamu "blog" was the first thing to go -- they had it shut down the same night that the announcement was made that JPM acquired wamu. I laughed until I cried.

Not to quibble, but it's actually a Coldwell Banker Bain listing.

@7: you can buy a blue hydrangea, too.

Yikes, I'm feeling a little motion sickness after looking at that listing. Is the super-duper wide-angle lens really necessary here? I get why photogs use a wide-angle lens to make a small place look bigger -- I don't approve, but I get it -- but this place is over 7,000 square feet for chrissakes.

hey catalina vel-duray, SHUT IT!
I want to read what everyone thinks of rotella's sht box not about you happy in a rambler. who care's where you'd like to live if your employer upped your hourly wage $.09! you want to get to seward park? two choices - quit your job cleaning bathrooms at the Olympic or get on your knees for your boss and HOPE the felatio is good enough for him to think your mouth is worth the pennies. you wrote the longest blog and I was forced to read it. anyone following my path is now dumber for having done so.

Clearly this home represents a substantial investment, and as such it seems to me that he should expect the same return as WaMu's investors got in the buyout. 0.27 on the dollar would make this worth about 1.69M. Sounds reasonable. Anyone want to make an offer?
