Culinary Slog

posted by on October 8 at 9:39 AM

Yesterday, Slog reader and Flickr member Ryan Parrish was inspired by this meaty, cheesy marvel, so he went home to make a “turkey burger… with 2 grilled cheese sandwiches, sans crusts, for buns.”

Thanks for the Pavlovian photo, Ryan. Now I want to slap two pieces of cream-cheese stuffed French toast around a slab of fried ham and Gruyère cheese; then dip it in a pile of cherry jam.

For a turkey burger version, I think I would have used swiss, and an aioli sauce.

Yeah, turkey and cheddar, not so much.

Stunt food.

@3 That's the whole point, I figured "Why the hell not!"

If you think that's bad, check out what I tried a couple of years ago: http://www.flickr.com/photos/ryanparrish/204864561/

I did the same thing last night, but I was inspired by a friend to make the top sandwich a BLT. It was quite tasty and far too filling.

If anyone cares, you can see it here:

You could just eat two cheeseburgers, but if you stack them on top of each other in an impractical way it is shocking!

I'm going to go invent putting the plate on top of the food.

Sounds good, except I have never liked cheeseburgers. Hamburgers yes! Grilled cheese sandwiches yes! But for some reason I have never liked cheese burgers. Now a grilled cheese made with Brie wrapped around a grilled chicken breast with caramelized onions with a side of chicken Au Jus would taste real good right now.
