Slog - Comments on Call Center Mutiny!

Even the telemarketers are turning on McCain, reports TPM: Some three dozen workers at a telemarketing call center in Indiana walked off the job rather than read an incendiary McCain campaign script attacking Barack Obama, according to two workers at the center and one of their parents. Nina Williams, a stay-at-home mom in Lake County, Indiana, tells us that her daughter recently called her from her job at the center, upset that she had been asked to read a script attacking Obama for being "dangerously weak on crime," "coddling criminals," and for voting against "protecting children from danger." Williams' daughter...

"Williams’ daughter told her that up to 40 of her co-workers had refused to read the script..."

Totally unverified, so the daughter could have been exaggerating or just pulling numbers out of her ass.

Otherwise, I would be impressed that that many people would walk out in defense of their principles--usually the ones working in those goddamned call centers desperately need whatever paying work they can find.

I actually grew up IN Hobart. @6, it's actually pretty blue, what with the union presence. Personally, nearly all my family, friends and their parents are Democrats. For as far back as I can remember, we had a Democratic mayor and city council except for a brief stretch in the 90s. South of US-30, or east of County Line Road, it can get pretty red, but Hobart is not. Although it does have a pretty racist history.
