AP: A prominent New Hampshire Republican who was a delegate to the party's nominating convention is quitting John McCain's campaign and endorsing Barack Obama. Fred Bramante says he is resigning as a member of McCain's New Hampshire Leadership Committee. He had been a co-chairman of Mike Huckabee's New Hampshire presidential campaign and joined McCain after the former Arkansas governor dropped out of the race. The Corner smells something fishy here....

To be fair, The Corner has a point [spits on the ground]. The guy says his rationale was that McCain supports school vouchers. Okaaay. A) Didn't we know their positions on education months ago? B) Weirdest single issue vote ever.

Comment by FRED IS NOT GOP

OK I've known FRED for years and I can tell you he is NO REPUBLICAN so this whole story is BOGUS.

He's an educational REJECT who was fired from his job as a teacher in the 1970s or 1980s and thus forever since has had a chip on his shoulder. He is a big LOSER, believe me, I know him personally...yech..

No one cares who he supports. We have more Democrats for McCain to make up for it.

I'm also a teacher for McCain.

Comment by NH

From the AP, the McCain camp knows just what I've said above for years about FRED; ego and opportunism is what motivates Mr. Bramante.
McCain campaign slams Obama NH endorsement
October 31, 2008
CONCORD, N.H.—John McCain's campaign is slamming a prominent New Hampshire Republican who has endorsed Barack Obama in the presidential race.

Fred Bramante, a delegate to last summer's national GOP convention, endorsed Obama on Thursday. The former chairman and current member of the state Board of Education said he opposes McCain's support of school vouchers, which would give parents taxpayer money to offset the cost of private schooling.

McCain's campaign says allowing parents to choose their kids' schools and a commitment to excellence are the heart of his education plan. It says Obama is more aligned with teacher unions than students. And the campaign said Bramante is driven by opportunism and ego instead of determination and loyalty.
