OMG, does that bring back childhood memories. I am exactly who this is targeting. My formative years were spent watching reruns of the Andy Grifith show, and Happy Days. Watching this clip is a complete trip.

Comment by Concerned Canuck

Just somel small chuckles, BUT, I'll bet this is the most effective Obama add of the election cycle, for the following reasons:

1. Ron/Opie/Richie are symbolic of all that is good in America. At least that is the perception.
2. Name one American who Americans are more likely to believe than Ron/Opie/Richie.
3. Demographic covered by reference to these 2 shows? Every white person over 35, i.e. the people most likely to not yet be committed to Obama.
4. These were two of the most popular TV shows in American history, and evoke for the above demographic a time when things were simpler, less scary. Innocence personified.
5. In the video Ron Howard seems genuine when he says that he normally wouldn't do this kind of thing. (why? see point 2)
6. Surprise factor gets your attention--"Hey, it's Ron Howard! What the hell happened to him?"

If this video goes viral expect a bump in the next few days putting Obama way over the top. Seriously. This would be a game changer if the game hadn't been changed already.

The surprising part of this was Andy Griffith. He's very old and very christian. I never would have thought he would support Obama.

I'm gonna watch it a couple more times.
