Pffft. I figured that out almost three weeks ago.

Yeah... because there are no checks and balances... and there would be no opposition party in power in the Senate or House?... Right? This really is hysteria.

You want a real possibility to panic about...

And I give McCain and Obama even odds of surviving their first term...

Naomi wold needs to take a Valium and have a nice glass of wine. I was with her up until 'Evita'.

Klein gives conservatives too much credit. I like to draw upon Halon's Razor from time to time. It puts things in perspective.

Buuuuut the skin cancer thing is right. Even radiologists at our hospital are diagnosing it...

@3,

No other branch of government controls the military.

But I do agree that Wolf is more than a little paranoid, and this is hardly her first time expressing this kind of crap.

@3 I'm with you but that's not a huge panic for me. Since the constitution doesn't specify any responibilities for the VP, Palin would be given no duties, not even attending state funerals, in an Obama administration. She'd just sit there all day and bounce pencils on her desk.

On the other hand, I'd expect Obama to quadruple the size of his secret service detail.

I meant Wolf not Klein. I'm a tard-blog.

You think that's panic-worthy? Pish-posh, I can beat that with one hand tied behind my back. Here's mine: do you think all of this stuff will magically stop if Obama wins?
So there!

Where are these "reputable" doctors who are giving McCain 2-4 years to live? She didn't cite any sources for that information. The Mayo Clinic doctors who treated him said his cancer had not recurred (last July) and that he needed no further treatment. Early treatment of melanoma (surgery, typically) cures the patient 2/3rds of the time. If he were getting chemo or radiation, I'd be worried about this, but the fact he isn't tells me his doctors consider him cured.

Sorry, that article was pathetic. Besides all the logical fallacies and "I've heard" crap... no one even ran spell check on that piece. I'm on the left, and that crap is just embarrassing.

It's one thing to become convinced you're on the side of the angels.

It's quite another to hear little angel voices giving you remote diagnostics and actuarial projections, and weaving these into the tapestry of Grand Conspiracy.

Naomi Wolf and Chomsky should have a love child.

They'd call him "mini-super-liberal"

Ummm... sorry. No. This is bullshit.

Diagnosing someone's health via TV is no more effective for McCain than it was for Terri Schiavo.

Any competent actuary will tell you that statistically, he would be likely to live out 2 terms. He might not, of course. But Wolf's claim of 2-4 years survival is pure fabrication.

McCain is an ass, and I don't want him to win. Palin is scary, and I really, really don't want to see her anywhere near the White House. But this article is paranoid nonsense.

@15,

She referenced the survival rate of someone his age, not someone with his melanoma. Statistically speaking, McCain doesn't have much longer to live. He has a very high chance of dying of old age in the next two to four years.

Any argument that starts with the phrase "statistically speaking" is one I have a hard time taking too seriously.

@20,

Wrong.

McCain is 72. Actuary statistics indicate a 72 year old male will live to age 84.1, on average.

Shame on this link. Where's the evidence? Spooky anti-government paranoia and vague conjecture do not a credible article make.
And yeah, doesn't anybody remember Bill Frist?
