UPPER PLAYGROUND OPENS RETAIL ESTABLISHMENT IN SEATTLE
New Location Features Apparel, Accessories and FIFTY24SEA Art Gallery

WHO/WHAT:
San Francisco-based apparel and fine art company Upper Playground is opening a new storefront in Seattle’s University District. The new store marks the second Upper Playground retail establishment in the Pacific Northwest after the 2006 opening of Upper Playground Portland and fine art gallery FIFTY24PDX. In celebration of the new store, there will be a variety of events held the weekend of September 19th including live art installations and an in-store appearance by photographer/director Estevan Oriol. Oriol will be signing advance copies of his 2009 calendar and items from his Estevan Oriol sub-line.

Upper Playground’s apparel line is available for men and women and features an assortment of hoodies, t-shirts, hats and jackets, in addition to other merchandise including luggage, a series of fine art books, vinyl toys, an innovative line of home furnishings and more. An exclusive series of Seattle-inspired apparel designs will also be available. In addition to Seattle and Portland, Upper Playground has retail locations in San Francisco, Berkeley, Los Angeles, Sacramento, London, and a NYC store is opening this month.

“Opening an Upper Playground store in Seattle is a natural progression for us after the success that we’ve has had with our Portland location,” said Matt Revelli, founder and owner of Upper Playground. “The Pacific Northwest is a culturally diverse area that appreciates the fine art community.”

Upper Playground is the pioneer of combining fashion and fine art. The Upper Playground store will have a separate space for the art gallery FIFTY24SEA, which is a similar format to many of Upper Playground’s other retail locations. There will be a special art exhibit featuring the works of Estevan Oriol, Alex Pardee, Munk One, Basco, Mear One, Parskid, Angel 179, and Herbert Baglione. Many of the featured artists on display also contribute designs to Upper Playground’s apparel line.

You don't have to shoot up, be smug, or turn into a douche-bag to go in. However, you do have to be rich if you want to buy anything once you're inside.

Ninety bucks for a hoodie? Good luck with that in the U. District!
