onNo less than 61 Nobel Laureates in Science have Endorsed Obama:
A group of 61 Nobel Laureates have gotten together to endorse Barack Obama for President… This is the largest number of Nobel Laureates to ever endorse a candidate for office, more than endorsed either Gore or Kerry. (Kerry had 48 total.) That is a remarkable statement.
Reason is on the side of reason.

Nothing says more clearly what is at stake in this election.
But would any of these pointy-headed elitists know his way around a hockey rink? Would you want to have a beer with any of them?
But being educated is elitist.
Big. Yawn. YES WE KNOW he's smart. YES WE KNOW our Democratic policies are SMART and right and true and VIRTUOUS. How about let's lkeep telling ourselves how smart we are for the next 45 days, wow that will really help win the election won't it? Why don't we write about how Obama is actually smarter than:
1. Adlai Stevenson
2. Hubert Humphrey
3. Dukakis
4. Gore
5. Kerry.
Wow, okay we got it. He's smart, smart people endorse him, and this shows we're smart too!
Woo fucking hoo.
Problem is you need the votes of the people who are less educated who aren't already in love with him etc.
So celebrating how smart we all are doesn't mean jack shit. In fact it's pretty clear this kind of lordly snobbery is counterproductive.
NPR today:
"New polls show the presidential race tightening. A Washington Post/ABC News poll has Obama leading by single digits. But an NPR poll shows that McCain is leading by two points."
Ayup that 9 pointer poll the other day was clearly an outlyer.
It doesn't matter how fucking smart Obama is if he can't win enough voters to win.
You smart enough to grok that?
Obama just lost the election with that endorsement. He may as well have been endorsed by some pedophile group.
Democracy is not on the side of reason.
What?! Smart white academics support the Democratic candidate?! In other shocking news: Water is wet! Fire is hot!
On a more serious note @2 some of these guys are fun to have a beer with. One of them in fact regularly buys beer for my MD/PhD program.
