The One

posted by on September 4 at 10:10 AM

What we learned from Palin’s speech? In 2004, the enemy was terrorism. RNC’s one message: terrorism is a real threat and the greatest military force is needed to defeat it. This time around, the enemy is simply one person, Obama. The single issue on the party’s mind is Obama. The Republican convention is not about McCain but his opponent. The speakers can look neither right or left but only straight ahead at the giant Obama. Why this magnificent obsession? Because of this one fear: If the reasonable Obama goes in the White House, America will never return to their crazy end of the political spectrum. Obama is being attacked not because he is black, but because he represents the Europeanization of the American democracy.

When you have no vision or substantive policy initiatives of your own, the only thing left to talk about is your opponent. For which I say... thanks for the free advertising, GOPpers! Even bad press is still press, right? It's not just about winning, yahoos, it's about leading and governing. Neither of which are accomplished by bitchy 7th grade attacks on Obama's incredible record of service.

"Obama" is the most frequently used word on both McCain's blog and Obama's:

The common theme in both is Fear. Fear Uber Alles.

And THAT is the problem with Obama. Many Americans do not care for Europeans. Don't agree? You haven't traveled enough.

I really hope Obama wins, but at this point, it's not looking good.

Moving to Europe is still the only real goal I have.

True, Fear is their message.

Too bad for them it's not 2004.

Americans are so over that.

Why do people assume that crazy politics/politicians don't exist in Europe?

Crazy politicians do indeed exist in Europe. In general, they don't go around starting wars.

Austria and Bavaria excepted from the generalization.

Abby: see you there! And you can buy your own damn Gummibärchen!

Actually, France, Italy, Spain, Portugal, the Netherlands, Denmark, Poland, Sweden and Norway are all quite famous for all the wars they started too.

You do know why the Veterans of Foreign Wars was started, right?

So, should we reside in Germany (have three friends there) or France (about six)?

Very wise. Europe has problems, sure. But they take care of their people. The only reason our unemployment rate is so "low" is because you are only considered unemployed for six months. After that, you no longer exist.
