Recipe of the Day: Zucchini Bread (recipe from How to Cook Like Your Grandmother; photo by pinprick on Flickr, via Creative Commons).
Ingredients
1-1/2 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon baking powder
1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
second bowl
1 cup sugar
1 cup finely shredded unpeeled zucchini
1/4 cup olive pomace oil
1 egg
1/4 teaspoon finely shredded lemon peel
reserved
1/2 cup chopped walnuts
Directions
Preheat the oven to 350°. Then combine the flour, cinnamon, baking soda, salt, baking powder and nutmeg in a medium bowl.
In a large bowl, combine the sugar, zucchini, lemon, egg and oil, then stir to combine.
Add the dry ingredients to the wet, and stir until just incorporated.
Coat a loaf pan with butter (or lard) and dust with flour, and pour half the dough into the pan.
Now mix the walnuts into the remaining batter and pour into the pan.
Bake for 50-60 minutes, until a knife inserted in the middle comes out clean.
Let it cool for 10-15 minutes, then turn the pan over and rap gently to pop it out.
Comments
You left out the headline about Seattle free weekly newspaper employing stoner fuckheads to run their online operations.
Not that Biden's comment will encourage some fundie to find a rifle or anything.
As a Catholic, Sen. Biden has to say that or he'll be denied communion.
I have no problem with him believing that life begins at conception. The rest of his statement was much more important-- he was clear that he would not support the overturn of Roe v Wade and said that he doesn't believe in legislating his faith.
#1, give them a break, jesus. Slog's custom blog is pretty impressive and reliable, especially if/when they implement the changes they made over at Blogtown.
The best and richest internet geniuses have more problems than Slog - look at gmail and netflix. Except, here, instead of not getting email and dvd's, we don't get asshole anonymous comments for a few hours. Boo hoo.
The news has gotten really depressing lately.
Thanks for the mention. By the way, the archive link you posted is a pretty long page. You might prefer the direct link: http://blog.cooklikeyourgrandmother.com/2008/08/how-to-make-zucchini-bread.html
@6: Thanks! Fixed it.
