“The fires of hell are frozen glaciers compared to my hatred for the American government.”

posted by on September 2 at 17:38 PM

OK, everyone—who said it?

(A) Osama bin Laden addressing his followers in a videotape released after the attacks of September 11, 2001.

(B) Rev. Jeremiah Wright.

(C) The founder of the Alaska Independence Party, which Todd Palin—husband of the Republican candidate for Vice President of the United States—was an active member of from 1995 to 2002.

The answer’s here.

There is a website called "talking points memo", dedicated to passing out sound-byte-sized topics of conversation for the like-minded to discuss among themselves?! And a self-described journalist will admit to reading it and acting on it?! The mind boggles.

It reminds me of the Monty Python skit where the couple orders a conversation from the menu.

(That said, this does indeed look bad for Palin's husband.)

Thank (insert deity here) for Sarah "Eagleton" Palin and John McCain's premature display of horrible judgment.

@2,

Yes, a technique used by the right wing for ages, but let me guess, it's not a problem when your side does it.

@5 - No, seriously, what's the deal with this "feel like letting it go" zinger? I don't get it. Neither does the rest of the audience, I think.

@3: Killfiles would be great... but only if they might actually work on the commenters, and not just on the comments!

What's the big deal? Everybody hates the government.

Palin is the gift that keeps on giving. The Iraq War is God's Task, well, at least as of June it was...

Doesn't McCain know about internet video? You know, the stuff that comes through the tubes?

Keshmeshi @ 7: Actually, it's bullshit when any "side" does it. I have great respect for Fox New's business acumen, but no respect for their journalism, precisely because they coordinate talking points with the Republican party.

I know some of you are so caught up in politics that you will adopt any rhetorical technique that might win a few poll points. Some of us, though, can expect to continue to lean happy, productive lives regardless of which "side" wins the next presedential. That gives us the luxury of sitting back and carping at the illogic and rhetorical foolishness both "sides".

Nice to know that we elect the VP's husband too. How is this relevant? Especially when obama himself is denouncing these attacks?

No offense guys, but you're only revealing that you care nothing for honesty or living to Obama's mantle at all. It's just another day of partisan hack jobs.

Hopefully, one day, the republican, conservative, liberal and democrat hacks will all be swept into the ocean and we can have a reasonable discourse and understanding.

@14 That's stupid. Just because Obama is denouncing something doesn't mean anyone has to agree. How is that not caring about honesty?

The Republican political machine decided to make things like this into issues worthy of our attention when they turned the Jeremiah Wright situation into a true shitstorm. On the one hand, I hate the idea of sinking to that level, but on the other hand, I'd hate for Obama to lose this election if he were to pull a Kerry and refuse to counterattack.

Besides ... secessionists? In the White House? REALLY?
