The vague invocation of we are for change/they're not for change needs to be honed into a sharp economic message -- Obama will improve your income $XXX lower your health costs $xxxxx and help deal with all the foreclosures on your block.

Under Clinton average incomes went up $7500 and under Bush they went down $2000 is the closet he comes.

IOW you need to say what the change is you're talking about to reach the swing voters. Make it direct, tangible, beneficial to them, otherwise it's all just lost in the clutter or they start voting on culture war issues and in that contest McCain being tortured for his refusal to sell out other POWs is a fairly gripping story. And Palin loves guns like many of these swing voters do. And "snowmachines" -- yup they got those in MI NH OH WI MN CO NV NM too.

The clever logical ripostes don't work. J STeeewart saying "hey they took the Obama meme" doesn't work. Pointing out they are just making stuff up and it's unfair doesn't work. I'd say trying to say McCain isn't a maverick won't work -- he is -- my god he was an official bad boy in the naval academy and he almost killed himself 2 or 3 times flying his plane.

And Palin? she has a tatoo. Cool.

@2 I'd like to say I'm not as cynical as you, but I am. There are things that can be said by republicans that can't be said by democrats because we sort of take the moral high ground. We openly discus the complexities of the world, our answers are rarely short and sweet (credit to Hillary here, and probably why she gets the most needless slander).

I guess, one thing that impressed me was this guy on CNN who more or less said the press needs to expose Palin for what she is.

And she is still out there telling the same damn speech, over and over and over again.

But you are right, state things like, drilling for oil will create more jobs ... in places where they have oil ...

Dollars and cents, and really trickle down economics is a house of cards, and they do everything but state what it is, because that is how they lost to Bush.

Next pay check, Obama gets some.

The odd thing is that there is a metric ton of deeply embarrassing McCain video that they just have to run, almost without commentary. Want to show McCain is a reckless warmonger? Wouldn't it be great to have video of him singing "Bomb, bomb Iran" to the tune of a Beach Boys song? There is that, and so much more.
