BalMar is a bit hoity-toity, but has a decent happy hour menu and spacious upstairs that could probably handle the Slog mob. And they have pool tables.

Fnarf @1 is right ... all the decent places are too small (or too crowded).

It's one of the last real dive bars in town (I miss you Rendezvous and Frontier Room) ...

Here's a tip: When it's busy and you see me working my ass off, try ordering doubles. If that's not enough, double-fist the doubles. If that's not enough, shots and doubles. Don't forget to calculate your tip appropriately. I remember forgetters.

Oh man Slog Happy is always awesome, this time was no exception (minus the understaffed bar).

I am at the back of linked picture #2, man I am smalled compared to the fleshy man toy!

I don't care where we have it next. I would recommend the Summit Pub, but I think its too small. They do have a pool table though...and maybe we could just take it over?

Summit Pub would be super; warn them in advance and take it over for two hours; the Pub also has good sidewalk caf� area for drinking and responsible PC smoking. Sun Liquors down the street from the Pub also a possibility - but perhaps too small for a standup cocktail party. Drawbacks: limited parking.

I was at the optometrist instead. But I reiterate my wish for a Ballard location next time. What about taking over the whole bar area of Hi-Life? I understand it's not the worst of the Chow Foods restaurants. (har. actually it's awesome and they have happy hour wood-fired pizzas for like $4.)

Surprisingly, I'm going to volunteer the Blue Moon, if only because (a) I'm in a position to do so, and (b) I work there every Thursday and can't make it to these happy hours. If the Mohammed can't come to the mountain, the mountain should come for cheap wells. Paul can also pick the best books off of our shelves -- I think we still have some Sweet Valley Highs left!!!

I'll second Jason and lark. Both the Blue Moon and the Monkey Pub would have enough space to host a Slog Happy, and both have highly competent and capable staff. And of course, the most important thing: both are close to where I live. The difference would be whether you wanted food or not - if so, I think the Monkey would have the edge.

I wholeheartedly second the Twilight. It's always dead, it's huge, there are plenty of entertainments (pool, golden tee) and the food really is declicious. I kid you not.

Cooper's is a good pick. For one thing, they have Jenga, darts, and pool.

I'd also like to recommend, again, Pies and Pints. It's a little small, but it has a nice back room with a pool table.

BalMar is distressingly yuppified and looks like a meat market for people who make twice what I do. However, just down the street is the Matador, which is huge and has really good food. Not to mention sangria!

@46 Are you serious? You're going to call the BalMar distressingly yuppified (it is) but then suggest the Matador? Sure the food is good, but have you ever eaten inside that place? It's filled with greek system alumni, and is a TOTAL meat market. What's that if not yuppified? Also, the "bar" area is not big at all.

I have eaten inside the Matadoor. I have no idea what the normal clientele look like; I was drunk and it was dark in there. But like I said, the food was good, the place was huge, and there was sangria.

Also, what about the College Inn Pub? It's big, they have food, the place exudes an aura that repels frat guys, there are two pool tables and a dart board, and the beers are good. Plus, there are tables where you can sit, like a civilized person.

OK. Fine. Put up or shut up. Will the Blue Moon staff with a minimum of two (2) bartenders, and at least one (1) bar back?

And that guy who had never set foot in Moe Bar before, nor tended bar before, does not count as a "bartender". That was a disaster.

I mean two real bartenders, because these understaffed Slogs Happy are getting old. These folks show up wanting to buy a lot of drinks, if only there were someone to serve them.

Blue Moon is easier for people on Capitol Hill to get too, even if Blue Bistro is fun.
