So Where Do You Get a Chicken Suit Anyway?

palinrunshides.jpg

Sarah Palin won’t hold press conferences. Says the Washington Post

JOHN McCAIN selected Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin to be his running mate 23 days ago. Since then, Ms. Palin has not held a single news conference with the national media. She has answered only a handful of questions from voters and reporters…. Mr. McCain’s selection of an inexperienced and relatively unknown figure was unsettling, and the campaign’s decision to keep her sequestered from serious interchanges with reporters and voters serves only to deepen the unease. Mr. McCain is entitled to choose the person he thinks would be best for the job. He is not entitled to keep the public from being able to make an informed assessment of that judgment. Ms. Palin’s speech-making skills are impressive, but the more she repeats the same stump speech lines, the queasier we get. Nor have her answers to the gentle questioning she has encountered provided any confidence that Ms. Palin has a grasp of the issues.

Says Sullivan

There are only a few weeks to go before the United States may pick a potential president who has never given a press conference as a candidate for national office. This is not a functioning democracy.

Says my buddy Alice…

It’s time for the Dems (or the press corps!) to arrange to have a woman in a chicken suit follow Palin everywhere until she gives interviews to the press. If the chicken has to wear lipstick to avoid charges of sexism, so be it.

Alice is right. Lord knows if Palin were a Democrat and ducking the press, Young Republicans in chicken suits would be swarming all over her events carrying signs that said “What the Cluck is Sarah Hiding?” and “Chicken Run!”

So who’s going to do it? Who’s going to launch Operation Chicken Shit?

ohhhh. I like this idea, it has legs.

But let's not follow the young repub mold, lets actually have healthy, intelligent, attractive people in the chicken suit. I can only put up with so many pimple-faced, overweight, goosestepping jagoffs.

Only eggs that are open to the possibility of conception.

sounds like fun, but don't expect the same results as one could expect if the roles were reveresed (i.e. if a dem nom was ducking the press). Once again, there exists a double standard for liberal & conservatives. A conservative candidate can go three + weeks without one single presser and no one (except the liberal blogoshpere) notices or cares.

Actually, this is perfect for Michael Moore. It's just the right kind of juvenile stunt.

Michael Moore probably has one he isn't using these days.

Or maybe that Burger King "submissive chicken" suit is available for rental.

Nothing anyone does will inoculate you from charges of sexism. That's not how this works. These people attack with anything that might stick, with no regard for reality.

Remember when unPC was hammering away with that Michelle Obama "whitey" video every day? And it made no difference whether it had the slightest basis in reality? They say it, and it gets out there and that's all they need.

They'll probably counterattack with sexism charges even if nobody actually gets a real chicken suit. So fire away, and don't be afraid of what they'll hit back with.

And Joe Biden?

He's been given zero media exposure since being nominated...for good reason, too, because he's an old bigot from the East Coast!

Meanwhile, Sarah Palin has had here person email read, for Pete's sake...what else do you tire kickers want to scrutinize. Palin has been more journalized than the candidates themselves!

In her unwillingness to explain her positions, her unavailability to the press and her refusal to respond to subpoenas she has proven herself a worthy successor to Dick Cheney as the sole member of the Fourth Branch of Government.

I guess a chicken suit is better than a moose suit...She might shoot it!

I'm just waiting to see how much Biden will dominate Palin at the VP debate.

Biden has done upwards of 70 press conferences in the time that has elapsed since Palin was picked.

Bailo, that is a flat out lie. C'mon, you know that. Biden has fielded random questions from townhalls, done multiple interviews, etc.

Even assuming that it's okay for Palin to hide, McCain on Sept 11th stated: "The fact is that she's coming out in the next couple of days with interviews with numerous people."

Why is no one holding him accountable for that lie?

Is this what our "great" country has become? Why have we the electorate allowed this to happen? Are we willing to make the effort to change it?

This won't stick. No one believes a woman who can shoot and field dress a caribou is a chicken. I've been suggesting that people call her "Fish Tale Palin" as a nod to her inability to tell the truth. You can spread your hands wider as you say it, as the fish gets bigger and bigger with every telling. I think it works because it's not mean, just demeaning (like "flip-flop" or "there he goes again").

I second the Michael Moore suggestion. He would be brilliant and annoying enough.

@18

An animal versus a high powered rifle is not a fair fight, and pulling the trigger is more an act of cowardice than anything else. Look at John Kerry's pathetic hunting trip.

What takes balls is to run for office without feeling the need to shoot anything.

Let's take it back!

As is true for many facets of this campaign, this already happened on The West Wing. In the season six "Freedonia" episode, Donna has a face-off with a guy in a chicken suit.

Just sayin'.

Yawn, when I was unPC never said nuttin' 'bout Michelle's alleged whitey comment, never saw nor posted any such alleged video, mr. e knows this and loves to repeat the lie.

Y-a-w-nnnnnnn.

As for chicken suit idea, every minute spent on Palin doesn't do anything to connect Obama to swing voters and is wasted and adds to the clutter.

@26

Yes, it is a vendetta. I don't think SusanUnPC (or whatever the voices in her head say her name is today) should be let off the hook. I can't stand the campaign of lies, and the sock puppetry. I guess I do take it personally. That's how it is.

So I'm sorry if you don't like it. But the answer is no, I'm not going to stop.

While we're not calling it "Operation Chickenshit," we are having a RALLY this Wednesday, September 24, in Westlake Park, from 4-7pm to demonstrate our disgust with the McCain campaign while Cindy McCain is over on the east side collecting thousands of fat-cat dollars. The rally was originally organized because PALIN was to be in town collecting the loot, but even though the G.O.P. switched the schedule (sorry Eastsiders!), we're still gonna rally. Chickensuited protestors are not just welcome--they are encouraged:
