Gives me chills because I could have written that myself. I'm so happy for us all.

What an exciting time he is embarking on with the most empowerment he has ever had

He's a she. Still, it applies.

It's ironic that he stands at the threshold of happiness at the exact time that the world economy tumbles into an abyss of no return, while the Earth's climate begins, at last in earnest, to wipe out humanity completely. No doubt he'll join in a mass suicide before he feels even a taste of the sweet, sweet joys he dreamed of.

Unless he has a motorcycle. Post-Apocalypse, bikers will rule.

Hearing her say things like "I'm starting University", and "screwed up their A levels" makes me think this shitty little town of hers is not in the United States... so it's Savage Love International Edition!

(Or am I being presumptuous and there are places here where this is standard lexicon?)

I have a lump in my throat. She survived! Way to go, honey! And good luck in university!

In the UK, "escaping" from a small town means driving 50 miles, at most. Still, good for her.

Dan, I suspect that there a lot of people like NLTALI who have made it through their adolescence because of YOUR guidance. You once said I was going to try and save the world, but you have been saving lives all along. That is why you are one of my heroes.

It just goes to show you that it isn't necessarily saving the burning busload of nuns from crashing into a nursery that makes one a hero. Saving a life, any life, makes one more than worthy to wear the spandex (although in most cases, it's still a fashion no-no because it shows EVERYTHING!)
You will always be hero to me, Dan, ESPECIALLY because you make mistakes and own up to them. And though I think you rarely question it, remember this:
"If I were to try to read, much less answer, all the attacks made on me, this shop might as well be closed for any other business. I do the very best I know how - the very best I can; and I mean to keep doing so until the end. If the end brings me out all right, what's said against me won't amount to anything. If the end brings me out wrong, ten angels swearing I was right would make no difference."

I'm wondering if she's gone to the university of Sussex at Brighton. Which can be a lot more than 50 miles...

To make a friend, be a friend. College will be the fondest of memories as you grow older. Make every moment count. And good luck and congratulations. Life is an adventure.
