They should do a new show that makes comedy versions of Saturday Night Live clips.
It's not entirely their fault. A satirist has to be more outrageous than his target, but it's hard to be more outrageous than that ad with Obama leering suggestively at a bunch of white kids and still conform to broadcast network standards.
The guy playing McCain was terrible, though. He's can't even deliver the "my friends" line convincingly.
@7. I saw a promo the other day saying the SNL was going to do a special Primetime episode on each of the Thursdays leading up to the election. Not sure whether it will be just old material from the primary season and Sept/Oct. or if they'll be doing anything new.
I'm not sure if 'a lot' more people will vote for Obama, but I do think SNL has the power to paint McCain as hopelessly out of touch (as in the first bit of this clip, which was pretty funny) and Palin, as... well... as how Tina Fey portrayed her last week. So, it certainly can't hurt...

What's the difference between my long-beloved SCTV and SNL? The SCTV cast and crew got paid wtih "the green stuff," while the SNL cast and crew got paid with "the white stuff."
And "the white stuff" is what ruined the erstwhile brilliance of Eric Clapton, Richard Pryor and, yes, the cast and crew of SNL.
George W. Bush, meanwhile, was never, of course, brilliant to begin with. And behold what cocaine did to the US Constitution, by way of George W. Bush.
Just sayin'.

You think that was bad, you should've seen the rest of the episode. Painfully bad. It made this look brilliant.

They should just have Tina Fey open every week.
The other day I slipped and referred to Sarah Palin as Tina Palin.
Agreed. Tina Fey was a hundred times funnier last week.
@2
Actually this clip was pretty brilliant.
If SNL political satire played during Primetime, a lot more people would be voting for Obama.

In @8 I meant to say, each of the three Thursdays leading up to the election.
SNL is a sick show.
