Geophagy, or pica, was a common affliction of the rural poor in the Deep South; they ate clay instinctively to supply missing nutritive minerals. There are still geophagists in Mississippi who consider the local clay a delicacy.

Rice grain weights differ by type but if you use an average of 25 milligrams per grain then you get 40 grains per gram then you divide 3320 by 40 and get 83 grams which is about 3 ounces.

somebody check my math please, it is not my best subject.
