The initial AP writeup of that New Mexico rally contains a rather unfortunate transposition: A little bigger: Why didn't the internet come with copy editor robots?...

Comment by Sir Learnsalot

Actually the SEC chairman does need to go. He did this fucked up thing where he banned naked short selling for a handful of companies for a set period of time. What he should have done was either ban it altogether or leave the process alone. He's also had a long history of burying his head in the sand. I understand that Obama wants to change the system, but this guy seems to be particularly incompetent.

That's my two uninformed cents anyhow.

Comment by Andrew

When I used to work in the software development group of a large news website, my co-workers and I came to a conclusion about the problem with AP stories on the web. An AP feed wasn't originally intended on being a product for readers. It was intended to be a product for editors to send through their traditional editorial workflow.

As an analogy, AP used to be the butcher that provided their work to the restaurants that were the daily newspapers. Now the AP feed is sent directly to the web with a minimal of editorial interaction. A butcher can provide an excellent meat; A restaurant can produce excellent food; but a restaurant can't throw the butchers' raw steak onto a plate and call it a meal.
