Push-Polling the Jews

posted by on September 16 at 10:40 AM

Report: Multiple accounts of a new telephone “poll” that tries to scare Jewish voters about Obama’s support for Israel.

Theory: A sneaky attempt by Republicans to counter this?

Prescription: Jewbutrin.

"Would your views on each candidate be more favorable, less favorable, or unchanged if you knew that experts had found that John McCain was starting to show the early signs of Alzheimer's dementia?"

Dude, Jews for Jesus and end times should be enough to keep any non-senile Jew from voting for McCain / Palin.

John McCain may be old (and his ability to poke fun at himself on the subject is one of his more endearing qualities), but apparently he isn't old enough to remember the Old Testament. In it we Jews were a supremely argumentative and discerning people, with a long tradition of Speaking Truth To Power (even G-d on occasion). In fact much of modern Jewish thought is based on Pilpul, or sharp analysis, similar in many ways to legal debate. So when his friends (in the guise of a Jewish organization called the Republican Jewish Coalition) start smearing Barack Obama with none-too-subtle "Push Polling" they should be careful. As a people we've been skeptics longer than anyone, and we don't need anyone telling us who are friends are. If Mr. McCain would like to remain counted among them, he'd be smart to reconsider how low he's willing to stoop to defeat Senator Obama.
