Alaska is not a blue state and it gets back almost twice the amount of federal money that it pays in taxes. If Alaska were to become independent, it would be sunk. Alaskans, those bold, independent libertarians, are awash in government pork. Without it, the state would be impoverished and even more podunk than it already is.
