But... but he's not trying to scare me. I don't know how to react to cogent thought and rational explanation!

i don't want this "unity" and "shared responsibility" he speaks of. i want republicans indicted, curbed, and stamped out. ENOUGH!!!!

All I hear is something about how he's cruising down the street in his six-four.

So beautiful... I love that he's back to being above the politics, that he's all hope-y with (sorta) specifics. Honestly, how could anyone vote for the Fogey and the Crazy after seeing this?

He is too smart. People despise intelligence. I hope this ad can get some votes, but I just worry he is going too "high road" for the american illiterateti

I'm pretty sure this is going to run in swing states. I think I read that on Politico.

If I were running for President: "But for most of you, those I've met in bars, other bars, and late-night hot dog stands..."

I hate to say it, but he sounds more like a douche every time I hear him speak. God, I hope I'm the only one.

Ahhh, this is the ad my mom was talking about seeing last night and really liking! So we know it's airing in Wisconsin, at least.

I've gone from feeling very hopeful about this election to being downright bleak.

Any objective look at the national situation shows a country trapped in a shitty war, with a faltering economy, destroying our own national infrastructure while making no plans for future needs. Amongst a jillion other problems.

How can people still support a bumbling senior citizen, from the party that brought us all of these problems, who refuses to accept any blame for the chaos he's caused, over a brilliant and well-informed young man who is willing to take a position of responsibility?

There can be only one reason: Americans are ugly, bigoted, moronic dumbfucks. There is no hope for this country.

If it has the disclaimer "I'm Barack Obama and I approve this message" or some form thereof it's a tv ad. I read somewhere today that this is running in 16 states.

OK, I have to find out whether it's just me. I started watching this ad and immediately noticed that his voice inflections were different than they usually are in speeches, and I found it WAY more appealing. Something about the way he usually speaks and where he places the emphasis in his words makes him sound too professorial and didactic for my liking (and I've got a frickin' masters degree, so it's not because I'm innately opposed to that style).

Anyone else?

@21 - I did notice that his voice seemed to be in somewhat of a lower register than his live speeches. So . . . yeah.

Obama might bring back fireside chats. Excellent.

Love it! Not only does it address actual issues, but it also makes the viewer want to pay attention to issues to so they can fall into the category of "smarter than that". Unlike 2004, there are a lot of undecided voters in this election, I think an ad like this could be effective. Even if people don't have the attention span to sit through the whole thing, they'll probably hear about it somewhere and then they'll want to watch it.
