Just Saturday night, at the Genius Awards party, wasn’t somebody opining into a mircophone that playwrights—unlike actors and directors—can’t make a living at their art?

You mean like a lot of other writers, musicians, and painters? I'm shocked.

Play Writers win MacArthur genius grants all the time (Sarah Ruhl comes to mind) and that's $500,000.

playwrights aren't worth 200K. architects are, however, worth 100K.

$200,000 could sustain my playwriting for a good ten years. I sure hope I get it after Kushner.
