These folks were on Fourth Avenue and Pine Street yesterday at rush hour.
It’s good to see some Gregoire signs around town. But between the signs that scream “LIES” and “You Go Girl,” this ends up looking mostly like an eviction notice.
So, what will life be like under the rule fo Dino Rossi? Any guesses? I assume if you are gay he will have us all drug out into the street and killed. Or have red-hot iron pokers shoved up our asses. And all those back alley abortions that are going to start happeneing. But anything else?
(Why did I expect any coverage of our rain-soaked but undampended-enthusiastic efforts to show support for Obama and down-ticket Democrats when Cindy was in town picking up checks to get any STRANGER coverage that wasn't snarkily tongue-in-cheek. Oh well. Does this count in your Lawn Sign Census, Dan?)
Hi, Andy. Sorry I didn't have time to stop and talk. I had every intention of posting a regular, "Look, another sign," post. But when I got in this morning and looked at the pic, I couldn't help it. The sign just... reads weird. But I'm all one for in-the-streets activism. Drop a line for your next down-ticket Dem support event and I'll come check it out.

Thanks, Dom. Agreed the context is weird--lesson learned. Egg cleaned off face. I'll monitor for ironic counterpoint message next time.
At least you put something up--all other press ignored us.
Re: future--Talk to your editor, Dan--I emailed him in advance about the rally, and got back a query asking why we weren't picketing the actual Cindy event at Hunt's Point. I explained that we couldn't get a permit, then heard nothing more from Dan.
Next time, I'll email you directly.

I was at this protest and am barely visible in the photo. I understand your humor, but I guess we should have not clumped the banner holders with the sign holders, hence the mixed message. However, we WERE protesting the Cindy McCain visit.Check out a video from the protest: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aCNqApVXZiM

If I were running for office, I don’t think that I would be too pleased about a sign that said “You Go Girl”. It can’t get much lamer than that.
I mailed Gregoire a check today. I really really hope it isn't going for any signs that say "You Go Girl!"

Hasn't "you go girl" been commandeered by trying-to-be-hip old white women for the last 10 years or so?

"You go girl" is a pretty transparent attempt to co-opt Rossi's trademark Go!!!!!!! logo. Seems kind of desperate, if you ask me.
