2008 McCain Wants to Call Off VP Debate Too
posted by September 24 at 15:53 PM
onThis is getting more ridiculous by the minute.
Still, we are in a serious financial crisis. Which is why I’m suspending “Youth Pastor Watch,” even though I have a couple of really good news stories about errant youth pastors that I could post. But we are facing a serious financial crisis, my friends, even as the fundamentals of our economy are strong. And by “fundamentals,” of course, I mean the American worker, because it’s our workers, and not reading, that is, or are, truly fundamental. So there will be more installments of “Youth Pastor Watch” until Congress delivers the responsible financial bailout that my good friend and campaign manager Rick Davis assures me we need to save our fundamentals’ jobs.
So, again, I’m suspending “Youth Pastor Watch.” What are you going to suspend?

As if either Obama or McCain are even involved with the bailout deal. Their sole involvement has been sound bites and campaign ads. The only impact either will have is a vote once it reaches the Senate floor.
ahahahaha. if the media and congress falls for this i'll FREAK out. is he seriously trying to tell people that sarah palin is too busy crafting economic policy?
Dear McCain:
You're fucking kidding me, right?
Right?
uh, that header is misleading...they want to replace the vp debate with the one McCain wants to back out of for Friday and then reschedule the vp debate.
of course, i'm imagining they want to schedule that vp debate for 1am the week after the election...
THE PALIN-MCCAIN CAMPAIGN ARE A BUNCH OF WUSSIES.
THE DEMS NEED TO CALL THEM ON THIS CRAP!!! DONATE AND GET THE AD MACHINE GOING!!!
You know, I wondered, after my initial surprise and thoughts of campaign implosion, if the debate cancellation wasn't a smoke screen to somehow renegotiate the entire debate process...with the end of keeping Palin safe.
I think McCain's campaign is in a bind. He made a gut level decision to pick her. It's becoming apparent that she's got telegenic appeal but no gravitas (and apparently no ability to memorize more than one speech). I'm having to agree with Andrew Sullivan that she could very well be a pathological liar. It makes no sense that they'd continue to keep her from the media unless they've realized there's some core reason that will be disaster.
They can't unpick her. They can't let her in front of any group but the party faithful and softball interviews. They seem to just be hoping that they can wind the clock down with few enough people realizing the difference between campaign speeches and unscripted appearances at debates and interviews.
What the fuck is this, Political Lent?
OK, I'll play along. I'll suspend obsessing over the new Transformers movie until this crisis is over. Happy now?
I'm suspending my plan to jerk off to internet porn.
No, no, no, no. Please.
The American people can NOT allow this to happen.
Funny thing, last night I told my boyfriend I was just waiting for the McCain campaign to find some reason for Palin not to debate.
Eli, where do I sign up for the shock therapy? Your drugs can’t stand up to today’s SHIT.

You can even get a free t-shirt! (with a $30 donation)
I'm going to suspend going to work from now on. What's the point? My 401k won't be waiting for me in 30 years anyway.
my boyfriend. in a sling.
You know, of all the times McCain has lost this election, he just lost it again.
I'm giving up Palin-bashing. :-) Girl does enough damage by herself (well..with the help of McCain's folks).
I'll just sit and watch...and maybe help Obama in some battleground states. Non-stop SEA-PHL or SEA-CVG anyone??
I'm going to suspend my willing sense of disbelief that McPalin and their cronies actually think they can pull off this completely desperate, lame-O stunt.
I'm going to give up watching "the renewed mind" for an hour. they pulled it from youtube after Dan's posting, but it can be found at The Way International's website.
I'm suspending paying taxes!
@14: you can't afford a non-stop to CVG. its the most expensive domestic ticket there is. $500 on a good day.
that's where my momz & dadz is at. i have to fly in to dayton, indy, or louisville.
The entire election should be canceled... I'd prefer our current president than to have the chance this gal ever get near the White House!!!

(i'm half kidding)
Ok, wait a minute. Look at this, from the article Savage linked to above:
He wants the Prez debate instead of a Veep debate, and to reschedule the Veep debate at some undetermined time, which they could put off indefinitely.
He doesn't want Palin to go up against Biden because he knows that Biden will beat the crap out of her.
This is just un-fucking-believable.
Between following the Cassandra Crossing of John McCain's campaign and watching Cloris Leachman on "Dancing with the Stars" and Sunday night's Emmy Awards, someone in authority MUST declare this the Week of the Trainwreck!
FUCK THIS SHIT! For reals. McCain has lost it. He's INJECTING FUCKING POLITICS into this while saying he doesn't want to do that. JESUS CHRIST!!!!!
I think Naomi Wolf's head just exploded. Is Palin really going to walk into the White House without one press conference or a debate? The Republicans would want to limit the damage and get it over early if they thought there actually would be a VP debate. They are probably just negotiating for more confessions on the rules for the VP debate or they actually think they can get away with not having one.
These really are the last days of the democracy.
My balls
I'm going to suspend my disbelief that, despite all of the mis-steps, secrecy, pandering, hate-mongering, incompetency and transparent contempt for the voting publics right to know the truth about their candidates running for the most important job in the world, John McCain has about a 50/50 chance of being elected the next President of the United States of America, and his running mate has about a 50/50 chance of being elected Vice President and President of the Senate...
I'm suspending everything I don't want to do and will probably fail at. FEELS GREAT!
I'm not even sure a terrorist attack inside the US could save McCain now.
Lear's fool chided the king, "Thou shouldst not have been old, till thou hadst been wise."
Yes, because the Governor of Alaska has a very meaningful contribution to make to the debate on the response of the FEDERAL GOVERNMENT to the financial meltdown.
There's some precedent for this strategy:
"The answer is no. We have a full schedule of retail campaigning for the remainder of the campaign." -Schwarzenegger campaign advisor Sean Walsh, explaining his candidate's refusal to debate Governor Gray Davis in 2003.
"Americans aren't electing a debater-in-chief, they're electing a commander-in-chief." G.W. Bush, after debating Kerry in 2004.
this is a comment
I am suspending my worries about the American people being so stupid that they elect John McCain.
i'm going to suspend my testicles above my boyfriends nose... so then you know where my ass hole must be perched, yes?
My man has been saying for a year now that there won't be an election...Bush (read: Cheney) will think of some clever way to keep himself in office. He always thought it would be war-related but now maybe it's going to be an economic thing. I hope he's wrong and always thought he was being a tad pessimistic. But seeing that crony of theirs on TV explaining how $750 billion taxpayer dollars needed to go directly to the executive branch immediately! with no congressional oversight...wow. Just wow.
I'm suspending my slaughtering of Red Bushie Socialists on the WaPo forums.
Well, during my coffee breaks, that is.
Gotta give them a rest so they can realize they're bleeding to death on the floor, after all.
My cat, upside down. He loves it really.
We won't support spine-less NO-Bama and will re-defeat him in November !! Go Hillary 2012 !!
I've placed an ad on Craigslist.
I'm going to suspend a John McCain lookalike.
From hooks.
By the webbing between his toes.
I anticipate that this will bring me immense satisfaction-- uh, I mean, revive the economy! Yeah, that's the ticket...
i thought that John McCain didn't know much about economics...how is he going to help in DC? Photo-Op
