The first presidential debate is this Friday, which means we’re entering the final days—or final 40+ days—of this long, long presidential campaign. I don’t know how you feel about all that, but I do know that if you care about politics you probably won’t want to be alone at the end of this. Thankfully, there’s a place for people like you to go on election night:

I hope they are open late, because I doubt there will be a result until the next day if that.

So will we be able to hear anything at the Showbox? Or will there be bands continually assaulting our ears?

I would like to actually hear what the prepared responses the candidates will be giving us are so I will watch from home.

I don't know if I'll make it. 40+ more days. I should have a full blown ulcer by then. And if it turns into a nail biter at the end (a very real possibility), I will probably have an aneurysm before the night is over.

being surrounded by dozens of drunk strangers after mccain wins would make me feel more lonely than if I was sitting on my couch.

I'm interested in watching the first debate this Friday in the company of other drinkers. Does anyone know of any bars that will be showing the debates? Such info would make for a great Slog post.

This election may kill me, but if it doesn't....you'll find me blackout drunk at the showbox on the 4th. I can't wait for this.

At the very least, I'll have lots of people to lament/cry with with if the worst case senario happens. Or at best the wonderful shouts of joy and success from thousands of people. The 2006 election party was one of the best things I have ever been to.

We're also having a great party at Spitfire where the TV sound will be broadcast through the PA, there is free wi-fi and 22 TV's to watch the different coverage on. Also drink specials (the McCain Bomb?) and great food all night.

Here's the details:

David Meinert, Kerri Harrop, Peter Steinbrueck, Dow Constantine, and the SEIU
present
The Spitfire Election Night Party
Tuesday, November 4, 2008
6:00pm - 11:55pm
2219 4th Ave

This will also be the place for the official Washington Democrat after party. When the Westin gets boring, come on over!

Have plenty of Kleenex on hand.

There will be TVs, no bands, no DJs. It's an election returns watching party, not a band night.

@12,

Why, raindrop? Will you be attending?

Amazon.fr ships to the US, and the selection of children's books is far better, naturally. Just saying.

will there be gay republican to throw darts at for charity fund raising of course?

or a Dan dunk tank? a mix of staff and party animals ad hoc event, stripping to the raw raw raw for charity?

we will need a REAL party - racism will defeat Obama in the swing states - hello Palin, hello Dino, and you thought Ronnie Reagan and Bushes I and II were scary

You can't throw darts at me, but you can dunk me in the tank for charity - providing I'm wearing a large Stetson and a tutu.

They don't do stuff like that in Vegas. :(
