Lipstick on a Pi…tbull

posted by on September 4 at 12:00 PM

One of the best new blogs on the national stage is Mudflats, an Alaskan blog that’s very anti-Palin. (Impalin has a better title but isn’t doing the work it needs to do.) Today, Mudflats examines the problem with Palin’s joke about being a pitbull with lipstick or what the fuck ever. Turns out that three weeks ago, Alaskan newspapers were all abuzz with this bit of current events:

Child Taken Off Life Support After Pit Bull Attack.

This was the big news story in Alaska for several days that week. A child and her babysitter were viciously attacked by the family pet pit bull. The owner surrendered the dog, waited for the girls father to return from his deployment in Iraq, and watched as his six-year-old daughter was taken off life support after she went into an irreversably vegetative state.

I don’t know how other Alaska residents felt about the pit bull joke, and obviously her audience loved it, but most of us here in “small town America” probably didn’t find it particularly funny.

Maybe Palin had been mistreated and thus became the cruel attacking pit bull she is.

If she's a pit bull in lipstick, does that mean that the gloves are off and Biden can savage her in the debates and not be accused of being a big meanie who picks on girls? Because that's what it sounds like to me. Game on, "Governor". Biden = Death Star Palin = Alderaan.

I suppose this makes pitbulls potentially a heartbeat away from the nuclear launch codes.

Revenge is a dish best served cold, Savage.

Real hockey moms use slapshots to take down pitbulls.

At least in my experience (my mom used to drive me to my Pottstown Penguins hockey games)

I can't take credit for that one. All the genius there belongs to Sarah Palin and her speechwriter.

Sarah Palin guilty of inappropriate joking, claims alt rag

SEATTLE, WA--Today the Stranger, an "alternative" newspaper in Seattle, claimed that GOP VP nominee Sarah Palin was guilty of inapropriate joking when she compared herself to a pit bull with lip stick.

"This is offensive to pit bull victims everywhere," a spokes-ped-transit-mode-neutralperson said.

"It's very shameful that someone would make a joke, espeicially on national tv."

"It also shows a shocking lack of sensitivity to folks in Seattle, Washington, who are well known to be irony-impaired," the spokesperson added. "As such, it is an insult to all Scandanavians and Lutherans uptight prudes everywhere."

The spokesperson pointed to that classic Seattle joke:

A: How many Seattleites does it take to screw in a light bulb?

A. One. I'm pretty sure of that. If you agree, that is. Why?

Meanwhile, the Stranger noted that comparing Palin to Adolph Hitler is a-okay. "While pit bulls and their victims might feel humiliated by Palin's 'joke,' everyone knows that being a small government anti choice conservative is the moral equivalent of killing about ten million people and trying to take over all of Europe and North Africa," the spokesperson noted, adding an apology for for bombing Japan and participating in interning the Japanese Americans, however passively.

"It's just not funny to make insensitve comments about pit bulls, or any bulls, or to be fair, any female cattle as well," s/he further explained.

"Imagine how the poodles feel, being excluded in so blatant a fashion."
