LHC Webcam

With all my fretting over the state of WaMu—something the PI and Times finally deigned to notice in today’s papers, after WaMu’s bonds were dropped to junk status—it was time to find something enjoyable.

When my sister used to live in Naperville, one of my treats was to visit the FermiLabs collider. I can’t afford to travel to Europe right now, but found a decent webcam of the Large Hadron Collider.

Enjoy!

(Thanks to NapoleonXIV and zeroryoko.)

Thanks for scaring the crap out of me for 1.5sec.

It is hard to read that story with so many links. It is like a visual speed bump.

Cool web cam!

You might try actually READING the Times and P-I, though. They've been covering the WaMu thing for weeks now.

What it really needs is a guy in a bear suit.

Yes, Fermilab is very cool. I toured the grounds, including the accelerator, when I was a wee lass, and seeing all the LHC pictures reminded me of how cool I thought it was back then. Plus, it's a wildlife preserve. Basically, it's heaven for a science geek.

Why don't you visit LIGO at Handford? They have free monthly tours, you can indulge your physics geek (though an observatory isn't nearly as neat as a collider), and actually touch a Weber bar....

I sure thought I was lucky to have clicked on the link just in time to see some action.

Then the luck suddenly turned on me.
