Comments on Jail Site Meeting in Magnolia Tomorrow Night

The site that "makes the most sense" for a jail is not even on the list of four finalists: the industrial area immediately south of Safeco Field. Not close to any homes or schools, bordered by I5 on one side and the Sound on the other, easily accessible to buses and to the county courthouse and jail downtown. It's ridiculous that this area has been bypassed in favor of sites near residences and schools.

Forget Interbay move the jail to Blaine right in the fucking center of Magnolia... Maybe then I could afford a house there.

If they keep doing arrests of 50 people for growing pot, we're not even going to have time to BUILD this before our city and county go BANKRUPT.

Jason, I can understand the reluctance to have any big institutional structure near people's homes, but aside from the initial gasp factor, what's wrong with having a county jail near a school? Are you concerned about a misdemeanor escapee stopping to hand out candy at the playground after he jumps the fence or climbs out of his tunnel?

I completely agree w/Jason on this. Why not keep an ugly industrial/non-residential area ugly? Close to downtown courts, etc. Keep our residential areas just that ~ residential. Keep business/gov't business downtown where it belongs. End of story. I will for sure be at the forum tonight.
