Yessssssssssss. Noonan is right (god DAMN what is with me agreeing with all of these crazy ladies today?)-- this [the religious right] is not where the Republicans live and every time they go there it totally backfires.

I, for one, am actually excited about the prospect of the Republican party returning to its small government, progressive but fiscally conservative roots. THAT is a party I might actually enjoy competing against. THAT is a party that could make the Dems have to do some work on our flabby positions and actually define ourselves.

@3. Right on. I can respect a party that is about small government, traditionally conservative economic policies, etc. I may not agree with them, but I can have a reasonable and sane discussion about issues with them.

One cannot have a reasonable and sane discussion with the socially conservative Republicans (gays are bad! stem cell research is bad! evolution is bad!).

Why is it that no one can seem to point out that the fiscal conservatives in the Republican Party make even more fun of the social conservatives than liberals are perceived by many to do?

I love that she apologizes about saying "bullshit". Now if only McCain would apologize to the Republicans for sinking their hopes for retaining the Presidency.

I've been watching MSNBC's hosts react strongly all day to the assertion that the media has been "piling on Palin." I wonder if this isn't a bit of MSNBC fighting back against the unfounded assertions.

Now, let's see Noonan try to spin herself out of this one...

I can hardly wait for the sound bite compilation commercial. Add this to the Pat Buchanon bite, throw in a "she was for it before she was against it" VO showing her lying about her support for the nowhere bridge, add in the "hate america quote" end it with "what kind of judgment does McCain have to put this woman one heart beat away from the presidency?"
Daily Kos should sponsor a competition for the ad.

It's not just them, or MSNBC, or CNBC, or even CNN.

The first reaction of most real conservatives, despicable as they may be, on hearing the news was "OMG, McCain must be really desperate."
