RSS icon Comments on How Is Palin Preparing for Thursday?

"a leviathan of forensics" is one sweet phrase that drips with condescension. it sounds more like sarcasm than raising expectations.

palin probably doesn't even know the meaning of "leviathan" or "forensics".

joe better step carefully. if he "picks" on her, the feeble-minded undecideds will feel sorry for her.

Palin is a giant, Biblical sea monster of forensics? Good lord, that's terrifying. Biden will be eaten alive!

I dunno. Palin is clearly a disaster, but given what's come out of Biden's mouth lately, I'm just preparing for a lot of squirming and cringing come this VP debate.

All Biden has to do is keep his mouth shut and toss the ball to Palin as often as possible. Every time she opens her mouth McCain loses another percentage point in the polls.

I'm with @1. That comment was just dripping with sarcasm. I think Palin will embarrass herself, but Biden also has the potential for (1) making a serious word choice gaffe, as he is prone to do, or (2) coming off as too condescending or "mean".

He will have to walk a very fine line with her...

I am agreeing with the idea "Just let Palin destroy herself". Biden does not have to prove ANYTHING... It would even be great if he gently helps her a couple of times; much like a father would a struggling child. Palin will look like an idiot and Biden will come off as the gentleman politician.

Will someone please make Joe Biden say, Barak Obama" over and over until he gets the man's name right. He made me cringe when he was here in fly-over IL.

Biden will do just fine. The screaming from the right that he is a "Gaffe machine" has only helped to lower expectations when he comes off as rational and knowledgeable.

I wish the press would stop referring to John McCain's estate in Sedona as a ranch. It's not a ranch. It's an estate belonging to an extremely wealthy couple. Jesus.

i call my parents' ranch house in ohio "the ranch". anything can be a ranch in post-bush murka!

@8 - Excellent point. The right could've just sat back with Palin's self-lowered expectations and then jumped on Biden if (when?) he makes a gaffe during the debate, but instead they're out talking about how he's going to screw up and say something stupid, so really in a way they're both operating from relatively low expectations going in to Thursday.

Would someone please tell Obama to lose the arrogant, macho-like manner he displays when he runs up the steps of a platform to speak. Someone, please tell Obama to quit speaking in such a condescending manner and to actually answer a question. All the yelling he does, the lawyerish explaining, and the supercilious manner he displays are complete turnoffs. One of these days, I would actually like to see Obama trip as he runs up and down. What a hoot that would be!!!:) LOL

@12 And yet -- somehow! -- he's trouncing McCain in all the polls. Even without your free advice! How is this happening???

I laughed for a full minute at Biden's leviathan line. The VP debate is going to be the best thing EVER. If Sarah Palin weren't a fool, an idiot, a bigot and a traitor to her country, all this mocking that she's caused would be almost enough to make you feel sorry for her.

Almost.

@6:

If I was in a position to do so, I would urge Biden to not offer any help to Palin at all, as any he might give her WOULD be seen as condescension by the pundits.

Better to just let her swing in the wind when she comes up blank on some question that requires more than six monosyllabic words to answer; her clear inability to respond with anything less than guttural screeching, while Biden simply looks on stoically (NO smirking!) would be far more damaging to her and the GOP.

Palin is fully capable of hoisting herself on her own petard without any assistance whatsoever from Biden; all he needs to do is lay out the Democratic position, contrast it to that of the GOP, AND point out Palin's factual errors, or other misstatements - there should be plenty of those to keep him busy over the course of the evening.

@12: in this postmodern age, i cannot tell if your post is serious or ironic.

congratulations, you have erased the line between comedy & tragedy.

@12. I am in complete agreement that we ought to elect the next President on the basis of how they walk up to a podium. Now THAT is the measure of a true leader.

"Leviathan of forensics?" LOL! The word 'leviathan' conjures up images of a huge, overblown monster, which Mr Biden himself can resemble, rhetorically, when his mouth goes into fifth gear. But I thnk both of them will do just fine.
