House of Pancakes

posted by on September 16 at 16:15 PM

If you’ve ever read Mark Danielewski’s House of Leaves and found yourself unimpressed by its obnoxious Blair Witch-with-a-Microsoft-Word-draw-on-application-gone-wild feel, this cartoon is for you. Here’s a tiny excerpt:

I wish this cartoon was 25 pages long.

This has to be the first xkcd that I don't even remotely understand.

You have to have read the book, for sure. I don't know, I kinda liked the book, and I think the idea of this comic is funnier than its actual execution.

That's awesome!

House of Leaves bored me to tears.

Paul,

With all due, that funnie, though funny, is simply no match for Dr. Tongue's Evil House Of Pancakes.

I loved HOL -- I've read it three times. The structure is only challenging if you obsess over it; I would choose to read the footnotes (or not) based on whether I wanted to. The story itself = cool.

HOL is a pretty good book, time consuming but not bad. The album his sister (Poe) put out is basically a musical version of the book and alot easier to understand.
