Gov. Debate Drinking Game

The first Washington gubernatorial debate starts in a few minutes. If you’re actually settling down to watch it, a helpful drinking game from the Washington State Democrats:

Because it’s Saturday evening, and many of you will be watching tonight’s gubernatorial debate from the comfort of your own home or office, many with a cocktail in hand, Washington State Democrats have taken the liberty of putting together a little drinking game to enhance your enjoyment of tonight’s festivities.

This game is only made possible by the fact that Republican Dino Rossi is running a campaign that’s entirely bereft of substance, has changed little-to-nothing about his so-called “message” since 2004, and uses the same folksy anecdotes and one-liners to distract from the fact he’s got no vision, besides the failed Bush Republicanism Washingtonians have already rejected, to lead this state forward. ***WARNING: because of the predictability of Rossi’s fluff, this game is nearly certain to get you drunk, should you choose to play.

Take 1 drink when:

• Rossi uses the phrase “while protecting the most vulnerable” to describe his 2003 budget that balanced the budget on the backs of the most vulnerable.

•Rossi says it’s Gary Locke’s budget, not his, when the decisions he made to cut services for the most vulnerable are criticized.

•Rossi says the nursing home industry “asked for it” regarding the bed tax he imposed, despite the fact that he ultimately stabbed them in the back by using the money instead to balance the budget.

•Rossi says he favors stem cell research, even though he explicitly opposes the most promising types of research due to his personal religious beliefs.

•Rossi reiterates his thoroughly debunked lie that Gregoire would impose a state income tax.

•Rossi explains how he “normed all the numbers to 2007” to explain how simply went to DOT’s website and cooked the books with Bush-style math to create the illusion he could do all the transportation projects we’re already doing at half the price.

Take 1 full shot or finish current beverage when:

•Rossi says: “When it comes to education, I have one simple test: what’s in the best interest of our kids?” before he attempts to obscure his abysmal record on the issue.

•Rossi tells a story about his daughter’s allowance to explain why he slashed voter-approved education funding.

•Rossi says any one of:

“I’m not running on that issue.”

“I’m not running for Supreme Court.”

“I’ve never run on those issues.”

•Rossi says: “I want to make Washington the best place to start a business and the worst place to commit a crime.” (For the record: It’s currently ranked 3rd best place in America for business, and crime is at a 14-year low.)

•On health care, Rossi explains his idea to stop regulating insurance companies in Washington state by telling a story about mandates and compares us to Idaho. (***Drink 2 shots while assuming a wide stance if Rossi mentions Larry Craig in his story about mandates in Idaho.)

•Rossi says: “You may not all want acupuncture, but you’re all paying for it – it’s a mandate.” (It’s not.)

•Rossi tells a story about how his family “couldn’t afford to go to the Hilton every weekend” before he lies about his support for the state parks system in Washington.

Finish the bottle if lightning strikes and:

•Rossi offers a substantive policy proposal on any major issue.

•Rossi says anything besides “that’s not a fair question” and that he’s going to “go through the budget line-by-line and make thousands of decisions” when asked to give a single specific detail on how he’d balance the budget.

•Rossi says something – anything – nice about Gov. Gregoire.

If you really want Chris to win all you need to do is drain slimy Dino's resources - to do that just do a google search for "dino rossi" and click on the sponsored results ( right side of your browser window ). His campaign will have to pay 40 cents for *each* click.
Spread the word people.

Did Rossi seriously say he never imagined running for Governor?

She smashed him. I'm thinking I might donate to Gregoire's campaign instead of Obamas since it's closer.

We've got to show our support people. Rossi is awful.

Rossi is a political zero - smirky smile, big ears, the rest ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ

Plus he is a quasi bigot.

@11,

yes, he said that, and this is the SECOND time he's run for governor.

I'm glad they didn't mention the Casino Chris ad.

"By the way, Dino, I saw this delightfully racist ad-- I recall apologizing for something regretablly tongue-in-cheek and figured I'd point this ad out and hopefully get the people behind it to apologize... what do you think about 'Casino Chris'?"

So did Dino win his office pool? I think by the end she *had* mentioned Bush six times.

The format was awful. It was as if they weren't standing a few feet from each other. And both of them raced through their planned answers. There was zero spontaneity. Christ, I have a feeling that the VP debate will be exactly like this one.

Good parts: the P-I woman who had a deer-in-headlights look the entire night, even dan lewis seemed to get a kick out of her. the cue card boy who quickly put the card down whenever he was in a shot.

Gregoire had a table at the HRC dinner where we could pick up FREE signs and stickers. she received an award before the debate.

So drunk, but if I weren't I'd be drinking for the fuckedupedness that is the Rossi campaign, if I were from the great state of Washington. But I'm not, so y'all should drink for me.

They both gave tiresome stump speech rhetoric - except Rossi blew away her rival in inspiration for change and getting things done - like transportation and helping small businesses. Go Dino!

I was at a party last night, but I did see some highlights of the thing.

Rossi is the typical Washington state Republican: Lowest common denominator, superficially nice, but with an angry nasty edge that appeals to the simian types east of the mountains, and the combover crowd here in town. Low on ideas, other than how to drain the state coffers while promising to keep taxes low. Same old crap, year after year.

I'm hoping that there are enough non-damaged people to defeat him yet again. But never underestimate the idiot vote, especially here.

The problem is Dino Rossi could take a steaming turd on the stage, have sex with a goat, and then tell everyone that he's making forehead tatoos mandatory for all of Washington Citizens, and the Right Wingers would still love him. They've completely disconnected from reality, and their faith is absolute.

You have to have a house and income and satellite tv and cable and phone and taxes and pay schedules and employees and records and new clothes with shiney suits to get into the Rossi side of the Debate... Did Mr. Rossi ever go to greenlake?

I can remember when it was a joke to pass ( expletives) in Tukwilla.... the freeway is calling, take a hike and I'll give the trail notes to Keck tommorrow to provide you all with the roadblocks to the state troopers mushroom vandlals and other assorted numbskullery beans paticulars as we paitiently await to see if my drinking log is off topic again....

I'm so glad I was at a bar and saw this with the sound off. Pretty sure I would have been yelling at the TV otherwise.
