For Those Seeking More Discrediting of Last Night’s Speeches…

floorshot.jpg

… Sullivan has a bunch of posts about what they got wrong:

Listening to [Obama] speak, it’s easy to forget that this is a man who has authored two memoirs but not a single major law or even a reform, not even in the state senate.

I guess we should thank Matt Scully for inserting the word “major.” You can go look at Obama’s State Senate legislative record here. And his US Senate record here. At last count, sponsorship of 820 laws in Illinois, and authorship of 152 bills and co-sponsorship of 427 in Washington. The 2007 Ethics Reform bill alone cannot be dismissed as simply non-existent. And since part of Palin’s own claim to substance is an ethics reform bill, it seems extremely weird that she should believe that Obama’s record is a total zero.

and

According to the Anchorage Daily News, whose archives are the best source for Palin info, Palin has never personally issued an order to the Alaska National Guard

and

The Washington Independent finds Palin’s handwriting on an earmark.

and from fellow Atlantic writer, Ross Douthat:

Do not attack [Palin]. Stop referring to her as a just a small-town mayor and a neophyte governor who’s unqualified to be President; in fact, stop referring to her at all. Attack John McCain, John McCain, and John McCain. Attack him all day, all night, and on weekends too.

I agree with Douhat...time to move on; she's a nonentity and a distraction.

What a maverick McCain is, to pick a darling of the insane right as his VP candidate. Way to shake things up in Washington, guy.

I agree with Douhat as well. Palin shouldn't be the focus of anything.

The focus should be on who picked her. It's his first executive decision, and not only did he blow it, he blew it in a very familiar way: by pandering instead of paying attention, shooting from the hip, just waving his hands and saying "whatever, I'll take that one". We've had eight years of that crap from Bush, we don't need a minute more.

McCain is going to be the worst president in history. Maybe that's his job; making people forget how godawful Bush was.

@1 & 3: I'm agreeing too. Rove's talent for obfuscation is all over this shit, and everyone needs to ignore her.
She's almost exactly like my mother so it's easy for me already.

Hey, maybe she confused the order to persecute her brother-in-law, a cop, for a military order.

Facts are strange things to Republican separatists ...

Who ever said they had to tell the truth?

Also, we should never underestimate the American people's willingness to out an unqualified dumbass in the White House (um...we have been living it for the last 8 years)

I couldn't agree more. I'd only add that we need to get Rove on camera and on record much more between now and November. He's great at smokescreens but terrible at being a mascot. Which is fantastic.
