And here you would have thought that the space between the moving cars and the parked cars would be ideal for bikes. What could go wrong?

If the bicylist had just been going slower, he could have averted it. Even if the driver opened the door at the time the bicylist had been going by -- if he was oing slower it would have not required a trip to Harborview.

You covered this, yet you didn't cover the gnarly bike/car tangle in Chinatown earlier this week?

Sad for sure, but why exactly does the whole street need to be closed? I cannot imagine it taking to long to move the bike, take him to Harborview, and take some pictures.

And then a pit bull ate the bicyclist. We really should ban them and all large dogs. Well, all dogs. And cyclists.

And doors. Doors are the enemy.

@6: Dooring does cut a swath. The two times I've been doored, I was going pretty slowly, and I still got bounced off the door and then off the car next to me in the lane. Both I and my bike hit whatever car happened to be on my left. Presumably, if I'd been going faster I would have done a Mary Poppins up and over the car door, with no horizontal vector? (How fast is that?)

Unfortunately, the only person I haven't managed to hit so far in these incidents was the driver opening the car door.

Was the cyclist "doored" or was the car "cyclisted?"
