It's not a "party" -- the Democrats are Party as in a centrist organization seeking to impose an ideology on a populace.

The Republicans are regular people trying to avoid having the Democrats impose themselves on us.

Second, your use of quotation marks is interesting. I understand your impuning the professional credentials of the Stranger Staff with the quotes around "reporters", but preceding the quoted text with "so-called" makes it a little redundant.

But why quote "party"? The word isn't used in the original post; and you certainly must know what the "P" in GOP stands for, right?

I believe that you are some flavor of libertarian. You must realize that much of what Conservatives object to in the Democratic Party platform is an a expansion of personal freedom.

*) The war on drugs has led to the highest rates of incarceration in history, and drug-forfeiture laws have facilitated the largest confiscation of personal property with what can be charitably described as abbreviated due-process.

*) The Bush Presidency has introduced "rendition", incarceration without legal recourse, and torture to our "legal system".

*) Even something as simple as the Do-Not-Fly list - again, assembled, maintained and used in a process completely without any mechanism for public participation - should be enough to make their aims repugnant to someone espousing limited government interference in their lives.

In short, other than maintaining the tax base required to administer a centrally administered Federal Government, what impositions are the Democrats making? Simply that you must tolerate an expansion of freedoms that will benefit fellow Americans at no cost to you.

What, exactly, is so repugnant about that?

Great. I feel safer already...as the 20th century has bred the greatest number of psychopaths in history (something like 25 percent by my last reading). A world where that many people are operating without conscience requires a different type of "justice" than traditional Liberalism.

I use this term, because to "report" is to study and then describe. What I see here are a lot of preconceived notions. The only novelty appears when something happens that breaks the illusion of preconceived ideas about what a Democrat or Republican should be.

You are out of your element here and speak largely in code. I'm not familiar with what you mean when you say "Al Gores Scientology", or why you bolster your claim about the number of 20th Century psychopaths with a link to a webpage on which that factoid does not appear.

Without such context, and in a forum where the majority are unfamiliar with your views, you risk appearing irrational.

Regarding your badgering the Slog Staff about their reporting - it is amusing that you chose a post that came closer than most the reporting of fact. It is clear that the Republican Convention, for whatever reason, is being organized as if it were happening in an occupied country. They do not appear as if they feel they have the support of a majority of the people around them.

Regardless, please consider adding citations to your posts, so the Slog readers can familiarize themselves with your readings.
