onTo the dozens of testimonials at Women Against Sarah Palin, whose “about me” profile reads as follows:
We are not in the habit of criticizing women in the public sphere, as we usually feel we should support our female compatriots with as much encouragement as we can. However, Sarah Palin’s record is anti-woman. Feminism is not simply about achieving the power and status typically held by men. It’s about protecting and supporting the rights of women of all classes, races, cultures, and beliefs. Palin’s record and beliefs do not align with this. She was chosen by John McCain specifically because he believes that American women will vote for any female candidate regardless of their qualifications. He is wrong.

ECB, you rock!
no, mccain is right - SOME women will vote for mccain because palin is a woman - her selection was meant to solidify the female religious conservative vote & secure a reasonable percentage of the female low-information vote. it remains to be seen whether this strategy is sound, but that's who is still undecided at this point - the idiots.
and i hate to break it to you, but some women are idiots. they just don't tattoo "get r dun" on their foreheads so you can ID them easily.
I just don't understand the Stranger's steadfast belief that this tactic won't work. Only a few months ago I was reading Slog posts about women threatening to vote for McCain because of the way Hillary was treated. That was before McCain had a female running mate. Now McCain is pulling ahead in the polls, and I can't help but wonder if the two are related. At this point, I would like to see some actual proof that the Hillary supporters aren't jumping ship.
I thought polls showed that men like her better. Why are us ladies being blamed for her popularity? We aren't the ones who want to fuck her. Low-information MALE voters are just as much of a threat.
No, men don't like her better.
It's her voice.
Yeah, call it her accent, but there's something about her that we react to.
Not to upset elenchos - but - American women with children are responding very well to Palin.
65 percent say they feel she is talking about them, and are delighted that they finally have a strong voice in the political arena, who understand their lives. (suspect these are not the stereo type militant feminist women, sort of that second generation of self aware women, 25 - 40 years od)
Just how many women have children and what does that mean? Ten million, 20 million - more?
I think most of the early assumptions about Palin have been off target and shallow.
She has shaken the bottle in a dozen ways - and it is interesting that many Dems. are thinking in one dimensional linear fashion about her.... at the peril of the Obama campaign.
Howls from midnight personal angst won't change anything, either, even if they relieve frustration. Perhaps, Mc Cain made a brillant choice , and Obama made the political mistake of this era. ( and fuck you to irrational Clinton haters)
Sadly, it might come to simply that.
