This cover, with Sarah Palin holding her baby makes me realize that I haven't seen a single picture of Palin holding her own baby. What I"ve seen are lots of pictures of her 17-year-old daughter holding a baby.

Bristol Palin is already a young mother, and my guess is that she'll be the young mother of 2 once her own baby is born...

I'm going to subscribe to that magazine right now, just so I can fire off an angry letter canceling my subscription immediately thereafter.

She looks demented in that photo.

Is that second one for real?

I think that cover is awesome. What are the "new embarassing surprises"?! I may actually buy that magazine -- or, at minimum, read the article while I'm in line at the grocery store.

It's not just Palin's grand-daughter that got preggers out of wedlock.

Do the math as to her first child and when she was married.

Typical Republicans - do as they say, not as they do.

Typical everybody. Democrats do it too.

@6 Will in Seattle...

Wow. I just noticed that. Amazing, and I'm guessing that will become the next angle of this ongoing "mommy" angle of the story.

News flash: attacking right-wing Christians as "hypocrites" for having sex before marriage, getting pregnant, and then getting married is not a sane strategy.

No one is more aware of human failings than right wing Christians. It's their own sense of failure that drove them in that direction in the first place. Their doctrine isn't "we're not sinners, unlike you", it's "we're all sinners, but we, unlike you, ask for God's help and God's forgiveness". Opportunities to forgive are eagerly sought. Having done what she did, as a young mother, and then gotten married, and begged for God's forgiveness, puts her in a MUCH BETTER LIGHT, not a worse one, in their eyes.

Concentrate on the policy issues and the personality, not the baby-making. You're going to get sprayed with shit if you keep that up. Well, for Will, that won't make any difference, but remember, we're trying to win an election here.

@8. 60% of the people who voted in the poll say yes. Interesting, but it would be more interested to me if I had any idea was usmagazine.com's demographics were.

Palin has her own scary pastor. But he's white, so it's okay.

Fnarf...I completely agree with you about what the strategy on the left should be. But, the media is not going to drop this story. And, I think the take-away from this whole event will not help McCain or Palin with anyone other than their base, as you point out.

But, to win this election, they need more than their base, and this story (pushed not by Obama or the left, but by the media) will hurt them in crossing over to independents.

Follow the trail.

My dad and step-mom were up in Alaska (they drove there from Vermont and then back down to Seattle) and they say it's even worse than you can imagine.

The truth will out.

Dig deeper.

Follow the money and the deceit.

And Fnarf, the key thing is to attack and not to lie back as Dems frequently do.

It's time to chop off heads, rip out spinal cords, spit down their throats, and toss their corpses into the dung heap behind.

Fair heart and faint hand ne'er kept the America-hating dragon out of the White House.

I am not sure where to bring this up, but I think there is a possiblity that Trig Palin is Sarah's, but that maybe she was starving herself to induce a miscarriage. Women have been known to do that, especially pro-lifers. And she had to announce once it was clear the starving wasn't working.

But with all the other evidence, I lean toward beliving it was a cover-up.

AND @Fnarf: I could not disagree more. FUCK HER. If she was a liberal, we would not be having these "baby" scandals because either
a) it would have been dealt with
b) there would be no shame attached

The GOP have been shaming women for an eternity. The GOP is also the #1 party for character assasinations, and it works. This is serious business (all of her scandals are) because they show character and the ability to bury scandal (all presidents should know how). She is bad at both, and it's time the right got a taste of its own medicine. FUCK THEM and their "privacy".

This is WAR. They started it and we can finish it.

Imagine if Palin's 19-year old child Track fornicated or drank underage or had a baby our of wedlock too. That would be such a huge scandal.

Oh wait, Track is a boy? Who cares then, let him do whatever the fuck he wants with his personal life.

Personally, I say exploit the "Bridge to Nowhere" angle. She's governor because her predecessors were too obviously corrupt even for Alaska.

Fnarf, let you never stop commenting on Slog. Holy.fucking.shit you are more brilliant and eloquent each time. After 2 years of reading, hot dayum you don't cease to amaze me.

Yeah, liberals should definitely heed the words of the big J in Luke 15:7: "I tell you that in the same way there will be more rejoicing in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine righteous persons who do not need to repent."

Maybe McCain knew what he was doing after all . . .
