The focus of the investigation doesn't seem odd to me all. I'd say they know exactly where they want to go with it at this point. And the more revelations that come out, the harder they'll keep tacking in that direction.

One of the first times I ever made out with a girl was in a church, during a game of hide & seek in the dark. Of course, we were both 13 at the time, and I wasn't a youth pastor.

So what's the law in Pennsylvania? Different states have different versions of "it's-a-crime-not-to-report-allegations-of-child-molestation" laws. In any case, the laws don't usually apply to all professions. In lots of states, school officials, social workers are under legal obligation, but as for priests/pastors, camp counselors, etc, it's not as universal. Many Catholic bishops are living happy lives outside of state prisons today because of this loophole, which is being filled in, piecemeal, state by state. Perhaps Pennsylvania law is such that Nieswender's fellow youth pastors who knew about it will walk. I think this would be a fine thing to deal with on a federal basis.

If anyone so much as said "hi, Brian" to the freak during the time they knew he was molesting children in the church, then yes, I'd say they welcome child molesters there.

Hernandez: pics or it didn't happen!

There's the PA law. I know in Washington as a Camp Counselor I was required by law to report. I think it's any profession that has authority over children has the requirement to report.

Youth pastors/ministers are mandatory reporters in PA. I was one, and it was actually in my contract.

The only exception to that is an ordained, Roman Catholic priest who is told something under the seal of confession...which is part of the reason I'm not Catholic any more.

Keep posting that, Forever hip. It's still got a couple of errors in it, but I'm sure that eventually you'll get it right.
