The only loyalty the Clinton's have is to get Hillary elected in 2012.

I personally can't wait until we see ads with Hillary mentioning McCain's qualifications to be President while Obama gave a speech. Expect those to start running in October.

Oh jeeze dan. He was happy talking at the beginning of a summit on climate change. He didn't say both candidates are equal when it comes to climate change.

“Obviously, I favor Senator Obama’s energy positions, and Democrats have been by and large the more forward-leaning actors,” Mr. Clinton said. “But John McCain has the best record of any Republican running for president on the energy issue and on climate change.” He added, “I’m very encouraged about where the presidential rhetoric is in this campaign.”

I liked him back in the day; voted for him in 1992 and '96. Now, though? Yeah, fuck 'im.

"...the best record of any Republican running for president..."

He's also the handsomest and youngest of any of the Republicans running for president.

What @5 said. And Clinton's not really praising McCain-- he's pointing out that his take on energy is a little less repugnant than the neanderthal, rape-the-earth, ass-backwards energy policies of Cheney-Bush. And truthfully, just about anybody's energy policy would be less repugnant that what we've had the last 8 years.

i could almost forgive this one, but given bill's record for taking passive-aggressive cheapshots at obama, and his wavering support for obama's candidacy, fuck him. he knows better than to be saying anything the media can spin as pro-mccain. or at least he *should* know better. jeez.

Even if McCain's record on the environment is laudable, who knows what his actual stance would be if elected president? Now that he's a bigger cog in the GOP machine, he's falling into line with the party and being less of a "maverick."

Hell, he used to be anti-torture, for obvious reasons, but now look at him.

#14..
so then why doesn't fucktard say that? why is he letting the 'repugnant, neanderthal, rape-the-earth,ass-backwards policies' of the republican party off the hook ?

Suddenly it's in my head going something like this:

Bill: "You fuck my wife?"
Barack: "Where you get the balls to ask me something like that?"
Bill: "I ask you again, you fuck my wife?"
Barack: "I'm not gonna answer that. It's a sick question and you're a sick fuck."
Bill: "FUCK YOUR MOTHER!"

McCain may be saying "drill now" to win votes, but he also has a fairly progressive plan that would add dozens of new "clean" nuclear energy plants in an attempt to lessen the American oil dependency. Clinton definitely isn't helping Obama any by lauding McCain's plan, but he is right — both candidates have progressive aspects of their energy plans.

Reverend Dr @17-- if I were his speechwriter, alas, he WOULD be saying that. And as astute a speaker on energy policy as Clinton usually is, I'd like to see him use more of his time in public drawing contrasts between Obama and McCain on energy, instead of comparisons.

Clinton ground the grist of reality on this minor point ... and addressed a broad portfolio of other unwelcome realities.

Bill has global stature Barack will likely never attain, and enjoys an emeritus freedom of speech our system denies to candidates and officeholders. Should he go silent (or alternatively, non-credible) on energy issues just because it's a political season? Should he relegate energy to the partisan gridlock department?

Does he know everytime he says something it undermines Hillary?

No way do I want him back in the White House. That's what sunk her with me.

I'm guessing Obama did not pick Hillary to be VP.

All the DLCs are turning to be such assholes. Clinton(s), Lieberman, etal...

@23 - can we store the nuclear waste in your basement and the basement of McCain's Red House?

Bill Clinton never learns that the R's will tell any lie to get elected. I wouldn't believe McCain. But he does. Disappointing.

Dan thats fucking stupid. What he is playing at is trying to push better energy policy by making it seem like common sense, which everyone is supposed to have. "Even the Republican candidate can agree that...." isn't a bad tactic when you want to starts to pitch energy solitions to the public who republicans have instilled an irrational skepticism in.

O come on Dan. Heaven forbid that someone tries to involve both parties into working for a common goal. If more people said things like that problems would be solved much faster and with a lot less bs.
