The only loyalty the Clinton's have is to get Hillary elected in 2012.

I personally can't wait until we see ads with Hillary mentioning McCain's qualifications to be President while Obama gave a speech. Expect those to start running in October.

Oh jeeze dan. He was happy talking at the beginning of a summit on climate change. He didn't say both candidates are equal when it comes to climate change.

And Clinton's not really praising McCain-- he's pointing out that his take on energy is a little less repugnant than the neanderthal, rape-the-earth, ass-backwards energy policies of Cheney-Bush. And truthfully, just about anybody's energy policy would be less repugnant that what we've had the last 8 years.

Even if McCain's record on the environment is laudable, who knows what his actual stance would be if elected president? Now that he's a bigger cog in the GOP machine, he's falling into line with the party and being less of a "maverick."

Hell, he used to be anti-torture, for obvious reasons, but now look at him.

McCain may be saying "drill now" to win votes, but he also has a fairly progressive plan that would add dozens of new "clean" nuclear energy plants in an attempt to lessen the American oil dependency. Clinton definitely isn't helping Obama any by lauding McCain's plan, but he is right ��both candidates have progressive aspects of their energy plans.

Reverend Dr @17-- if I were his speechwriter, alas, he WOULD be saying that. And as astute a speaker on energy policy as Clinton usually is, I'd like to see him use more of his time in public drawing contrasts between Obama and McCain on energy, instead of comparisons.

Clinton ground the grist of reality on this minor point ... and addressed a broad portfolio of other unwelcome realities.

Bill has global stature Barack will likely never attain, and enjoys an emeritus freedom of speech our system denies to candidates and officeholders. Should he go silent (or alternatively, non-credible) on energy issues just because it's a political season? Should he relegate energy to the partisan gridlock department?

Dan thats fucking stupid. What he is playing at is trying to push better energy policy by making it seem like common sense, which everyone is supposed to have. "Even the Republican candidate can agree that...." isn't a bad tactic when you want to starts to pitch energy solitions to the public who republicans have instilled an irrational skepticism in.
