Who Will Wolverine Endorse?

posted by on August 18 at 16:35 PM

SavageDragonObama1.jpgI just got a press release from Image Comics announcing that Erik Larsen’s superhero character Savage Dragon is endorsing Barack Obama in the September 2008 issue of his comic book.

“Four years ago the Dragon was a reluctant presidential candidate,” SAVAGE DRAGON creator Erik Larsen said. “Fans have asked if he’ll be running again, but given the importance of the upcoming election it seemed appropriate that he would back Barack Obama, the candidate whose politics most reflect his own. Savage Dragon will be giving Barack Obama his full support.”

Apparently, back in the 2004 election, Savage Dragon punched out George W. Bush in his comic book.

This is undoubtedly the first of many fictional characters to choose a side in the 2008 election; The Stranger has calls out to Marmaduke and Balki Bartokomous to see which candidate they prefer.

Here's hoping Mallard Fillmore decides to stay home on election day, on account of McCain being too unreliable.

As a general rule I'm thinking DC characters are more likely to lean towards McCain, while Marvel supes would swing toward Obama.

Dark Horse characters are still arguing the merits of Kucinich versus Paul.

And of course any characters created by Warren Ellis will just want to shove arse-eels into both candidates nether regions.

lol@ Balki Bartokomous. I have not heard that name in like 20 years. "America or Burst"!

@3 the justice league does tend to be more fascistic, while x-men have those civil rights-y overtones.

And Marmaduke is an asshole so i think he would go Ron Paul

Excuse me, but just what Constitutional Amendment extended the franchise to lime-green fish people?

Yeah. Didn't think so.

I think everyone knows that most superheroes would just be happy if you VOTED in the primary in the first place.

Who you vote for is up to you.

Garfield is a libertarian, fwiw.

@3--Me too, and this is the second time "Perfect Strangers" has come up today. One more and I may have to do the Dance Of Joy.

Will Balki make an endorsement?
Of course not...

I can probably make a good guess of who Murphy Brown will endorse. By the way, the baby that sent Dan Quayle into such a tizzy back in 1992 would be in high school today. Tempus fugit...

DC is doing a political mini-series that's certain to be dire.

Jonathan and Jennifer Hart are reportedly leaning towards McCain, but won't make a final endorsement until Wednesday.

Isn't Wolverine Canadian? McCain's campaign would have a field day with a foreigner endorsing Obama.

I bet both both Betty and Veronica have "I HEART OBAMA" screensavers on their computers, and get Archie a little flustered when they constantly remark how Chuck Clayton looks a bit like a younger Barack.

Voting Republican generally leads to war, Knowing Wolverine generally leads to fights... coincidence? I think not.

*Snikt*

I have a feeling that if he could vote in the upcoming election it would be for McCain.

Pfft. Yeah right. Stephen Colbert is still running in the Marvel Universe. His billboards are everywhere.
