Now that you mention it, why don't you class up The Stranger a bit by reprinting some of the fine reading matter published elsewhere in this great nation of ours, Mr. Savage?
"Man, the times/P.I. need to get with the times and modernize. Start using the web some more and update their business model..."
*Times/P.I. do just that*
"Man, what the fuck guys?"
Man, if I start getting cards instead of emails now, it's gonna freak me out...
DON'T BE BUSTIN' ON THE WIZARD OF ID, SAVAGE.
Does this mean we should expect to see a review of ReAct's show in this week's Stranger?
Note to self: research before posting. Apparently there was already a review. D'oh!
If I need to know what's happening in the city, the first place I hit is Slog, posters and commenters, and the last place I go is PI or Times. And no one is paying me to say that.
Where's your review of it?
Great review of Angels in Friday SGN - very well written by Miryam Gordon
FYI
Personally speaking...
I am glad metro decided to change perspective on the posters of some of the panels on the side of the bus....
I hate to see a BEAUTIFUL BLACK WOMAN with her mouth open and her eyes closed like that... I mean it WAS NOT THE MOST FLATTERING LOOK FOR AN OPERA DIVA.
thank GAWD I am the disgrace when it cmes to biggotry in this town.. cause I can get away with high school sophisms.
Well gee Dan, how many theatre reviews appeared in YOUR paper last wwek?
I could be wrong, but maybe the reviewer went to the show last night and that is why it is just now appearing online as opposed to today's print edition.
So you know, no big deal Dan. Grip it.
Yes, maybe if the Times and PI took tranny hooker ads it would help bump up their news space (that's PAPER news space, OK) and they could stuff more back in there. But it's slice 'n' dice these days. They buy paper space based on what the advertisers have and what's left over. People who work at newspapers know this already.
And I'm with Jeff on the above: if a show was reviewed last night, no way it's going to make it into print today - that's how real newspapers work (note to ECB: pay attention) and no theater review is holding up a press run for three hours. It's a guild newspaper (note to Tim and Dan: guild papers pay better than free bar rags like yours but employees have rights) and press personnel cost BIG in overtime. Jonah has visions of sugarplums dancing in his head right about now.
OK, Strangerites! Back to your brand of REAL journalism - you know, stories on wiping your butt 'n' such. The big kids are done talking to you. G'way.
I remember when I moved to Seattle in the late 1980s a typical Sunday PI/Times cover was "Slug Fest" -- all about people racing slugs in the (then) cold weather (pre-Global Warming).
Used to think "New York Alki (by and by)" back then. Now wish it were still around...some days...
Dan Savage is wonderful. He tells us that every day.
are you still doing that guest blogger of the month thing? can i nominate danielbennettkieneker?
The times is NEVER gonna get you to check their online gas if all they got there is an ode to chick-lit... & mint julep recipes... ^..^
There wasn't even a printed theater section last week. No listings. No reviews. No articles. Nada.Zip

Hi webmaster!
Hi webmaster!
It's in today's printed Seattle Times. I read it over breakfast this morning. It was a very positive review.
Thanks for playing Dan!
uh, the "review" in the SGN written by Miryam Gordon is almost unreadable. Normally, she has enough problems trying to review one production but here she attempts to do two, and fails miserably.
