you didn't report on it when it happened down by the water and this is your comeuppance. the electrical grid knows all!

GOP Hypocrite News:

It was Paul Constant, playing with his Decepticons, wasn't it?
In related news the rest of Seattle didn't notice and went on with their lives.
People in West Seattle traveled downtown, not thinking about what construction impacts would soon make their commute even more fun.
People in Ballard ate cupcakes, secure in the thought that they used to be a separate city, not missing the Denny's.
People in Fremont continued to be the Center of the Universe, and were kind to many tourists, said tourists then decided it was a more fun place than most of the rest of Seattle.
And even people in Magnolia didn't really notice, being more concerned about the clouds overhead.
Transformers: there's more than meets the eye.
What's up with all the transformers blowing up around town? There was the problem on the waterfront this weekend and one in Lake City near my parent's house blew up on Sunday.
...dude, get an iPhone. ;)
Hey, look outside! Jim Forman and his parka are doing a live remote from the Mobile News Command Center!
@8 - probably the lightning strikes due to the weather, coupled with overloads due to not building enough power for certain areas ... that plus age.
I once blew up a transformer to cover up a murder. True story.
Your laptop (or BlackBerry, or brain) is on Eastern Time. You posted at 5:12 PM, and the first comment was at 2:27 PM.
But who's counting?
wow, you guys have an office? I just figured you were working out of Eli's mum's basement.
if Jim Foreman were doing a live report in that area, he'd be around the corner from the Stranger...somewhere behind the Comet...
Transformers blow up for a variety of reasons. Squirrels and crows are quite common culprits. Temperature fluctuations can cause them (usually when it gets really hot, really quickly, though) Lightning can do it. Certain appliances or motors going on-line without notifying the power company can muck things up. And sometimes stuff just fails because it fails. Not very often, however.
Last weekend's excitement was caused by lightning. Last Friday's downtown drama was caused by excessive heat. The Stranger's dilema was caused by a crow.
And it doesn't help when people steal the copper grounding strips off of power poles. Particularly power poles that have transformers on them. So don't do that.
@6 - I just read your comment while eating a cupcake in Ballard. Damn you, Will in Seattle.
Kinda reminds me of that R.E.M. song about lightening and a crow, crow!
Oooh, speaking of cupcakes, Ye Olde' Rumor Mill has it that a Cupcake Royale will be going into the ground floor of that new building on E. Pike between 11th & 12th.
@17, but did you miss the Denny's? I miss the Denny's, but I'm in SODO at the moment.
But I also miss Frederick & Nelson, the Cloud Room, I. Magnin, The old City Light Building, the minature golf course at the Seattle Center, that sinister old gay bar on Second Avenue (No, I'm not talking about The Double Header - that's still around - I mean the one further north, next to the Old Ruby Montanna's), Trader Vic's, Visions, and Andy's Diner, so don't mind me.
@20
Wasn't it called "The 611" or something like that? All I remember is getting dragged in their once many years ago by a friend of mine who was working at the old Pioneer Square Theatre for their "$0.25 Schooner Happy Hour" and thinking it was quite literally the scariest, skankiest dive-bar I'd ever been in - and I've been in quite a few, both gay and straight.
Yes! The 611! Thank you, Comte!
I was in there once when they threw a woman out. She looked like the mother in the original "Friday the 13th", and said she was going home to get her gun and come back to "kill us all". She didn't, of course. I waited all evening....
Oh, dear, the 611. That was a scary place for a straight boy.
I miss the Cloud Room too. It's some kind of idiotic Trend West timeshare thingie now. Bastards.
Lol, a crow.
Someone gave you the evil eye ...
And wasn't that cupcake good, @17.
Almost good enough that you don't miss quiet days at Cafe Allegro, back when there were sidewalks all around that block ...
Actually, I think somebody gave the poor crow the evil eye. He (or she)is now a former crow. A crow no longer. One crow less to return to the nest.
26kv will do that to you. Don't monkey (or crow) around with electricity.
