VP Jesus Freak

posted by on August 30 at 12:10 PM

Sarah Palin supports the teaching of creationism in public schools.

Can we expect her father, a former elementary-school science teacher, to publicly ridicule her position? Sadly,

“I’d rather go moose hunting than be involved with politics,” [Chuck Heath] said.

Oh, and Palin thinks global warming is scary but unrelated to human activities:

What is your take on global warming and how is it affecting our country?

A changing environment will affect Alaska more than any other state, because of our location. I’m not one though who would attribute it to being man-made.

This is the greatest thing the RNC could have done for the DNC.

It's a beauty queen quote fiesta. You don't need to criticize her, at all. Just print out what she answers to the relevant questions. I can't wait for her to say she believes in World Peace.

Even every Rose Parade Queen believes in world order I mean PEACE.

Great POST.

It figures that the first female Republican VP candidate would be a rabidly anti-intellectual Flat-Earther who is literally in bed with the oil industry. And also a runner-up for the title of Miss Alaska, 'cause Republicans like their women to be hot, ignorant, and second-in-command.

She's Assemblies of God, a pentecostal sect that teaches it's a sin for a woman to cut her hair. That explains the 'do. They also believe in speaking in tongues, casting out of demons and faith healing. That explains those crazy kids names. She didn't really mean to name them Track and Trig, she was speaking in tongues.

Shane,

Look Here's what you "have to see".

Sarah Palin's husband was BP management for 18+ years. He left to avoid conflict of interest accusations but is on BP's payroll again in a "non-managerial" role.

Assemblies of God--not surprising. These are the holy rollers who, as 5 points out, speak in tongues and cast out demons. They pride themselves on a sense of spiritual superiority over other Christians who think speaking in tongues is bullshit. I knew a few of them back in seminary--fucking scary lunatics.

The only nice thing I can say about Palin is that, were she to become VP, the strong vice presidency under Cheney would completely dissolve. I see her taking over the political role of first lady -- gets sent to backwaters the president can't be bothered with, has to show up for photo ops, sets up meaningless programs ala "Just Say No". Meanwhile, the first lady's role would be brought back to where it was before Eleanor Roosevelt -- mistress of the White House, nothing more, nothing less -- which I'm sure would suit Cindy McCain just fine.

Gawd, I was just thinking about how brave and prescient Dan was when he wrote this:

I get all tingly around the prostate just from re-reading it.

Republicans keep shooting themselves in the foot.

And yes, I am a Republican.
