Erica,
Do you bother to retype the message from Darcy's flak to you? Or do you just post them straight to Slog?

Obviously the fundraiser will be 911 of Reichert's closest friends.

I wonder if his fund raising appearance will coincide with his appearance at the "Get Motivated" seminar at Key Arena ( Where he is being billed as "America's Mayor")

I was unfortunate enough to attend that bullshit-a-thon (pardon my French) about four years ago. I nearly had a stroke when the closet queen/emcee said that the "freedom (is) the main reason we need to re-elect President Bush",(Fortunately, the crowd was composed mostly of morons who either didn't vote or would have voted for Bush anyway.) I finally walked out when he dimmed the lights after lunch and told us it was "time to talk about the ultimate motivator - Jesus Christ".

It was a dreadful morning - just right for Rudy.

On the other hand, had Reichert been in charge of finding out who was responsible for 9/11, we still wouldn't know who to go to war with.

I predict a coronary within hours when ECB reads about the plastic bag referendum campaign.

Welcome back!

Apologies if this has been posted to Slog already—I’m just getting back in gear after four days out of the office sick.

No, don't check first. Really, don't. Waste our time, not yours. There are a lot more of us, but we matter a lot less.

It would take you too long to scan a few days of postings. I mean, that would take at least two minutes in an RSS reader. What kind of very important news editor is going to take time do THAT as a courtesy to readers?

Readers? Let them read duplicates!

It's easier to just spew. Spew spew spew ECB ECB ECB

Oh Catalina, how ever did you find yourself attending such a thing?

Hope you feel better.

Guiliani probably has a pretty good pull with the sort of conservatives that live on the eastside, and he fits well with the "taking credit for doing nothing" tough-guy cop image Riechart has

Quality huh?: you are an asshole, and lucky that people don't have a public forum to celebrate your being sick.

laterite, it wasn't my idea. My old boss - who is a wonderful woman, except for her Republicanism - thought it would be "fun" if our office went.

Luckily, my old boss is only a greed-based Republican, not a fake Christian Republican. (It's not really her fault: she was born in Eastern Washington, and met a Belevue-ite at at a UW fraternity party her first week of college. Poor thing never really had a chance)

I think she was sensing that it was a bad idea. But when the Jesus talk started, she knew all was lost, and joined the rest of us in the walkout that I started.

To passively-aggressively show my annoyance at her, I gave five bucks to a homeless guy at the Seattle Center right in front of her. I thought she would have an aneurysm. I bet she and her husband talked about that all the way home to Clyde Hill in their Land Rover.

@9 - thanks for beating me to that.

Note to ECB : see how I scanned the comments to see if somebody had already noted your pathetically lazy ass? See how that works? (Things being what they obviously are, this is a sort of Zen line of questioning, I realize - but what they hey.)

Oh, Catalina, that's a great story. Well worth suffering for. It confirms everything I've ever believed about those motivational seminars -- that they take advantage of one kind of psychological damage, while celebrating another; all those fisty-pumping Tony Robbinses being applauded for what exactly? Existing? Practice?

OMG Catalina, I've been getting flyers for that in my office for like a month now. All I can think is, "who the hell goes to these things?"

Now I know. And knowing is half the battle...GI JOEEEEEEEEEEE
