fucking. geeks.
They can't just have their stupid fair online?
I'd be glad too, but my quill doesn't write very well on the screen and leaves these big runny smudge marks that drip down onto my keyboard ...
Wow that dragon guy really is fucking them up.
It's things like the dragon guy that wore out their welcome in Mason County, wow.
If they could get eaten by dragons (or stricken with the plague), I'd sign that petition.
Maybe if they could figure out a way to hold a Fayre without cutting down a gazillion trees.
Yes; I would fully support any faire that accurately represented the population in percentage of peasants and depiction of unpleasant diseases.*
*disclaimer: I, uh, worked at a renaissance faire in my sordid youth.
That's not a dragon. It's a freaking Lizard Man. I think.
I also think my brother still has the Dragon Magazine from the eighties with that image on the cover. For you see, we had a subscription.
They don't want lizard-men on the loose in Mason County, either.
That image is from a David Eddings paperback.
Kill me now.
Easy to dis. Not hurting anybody.
Soupytwist: RIGHT. "The Ruby Knight" or one if it's sequels. That'd be later than the Dragon Magazine collection, but before Magic: The Gathering took over.
David Eddings, one of those guys who found a selling formula and pumped out a couple dozen copies of it. I read most of them.
It's going to take more than a silly online petition to get this fair back. I'm sure they've taken a huge financial hit by not having the fair this year and I'm sure the owners are tens, if not hundreds of thousands of dollars in debt by having their income stream curtailed.
Now they have a moratorium on the property that won;t be lifted until it's properly rezoned and they've missed the deadline for that process for next year so it looks as if 2010 might be the first year they'll be able to try and hold this event.
It's certainly not pretty and I'm sure there's going to be a lot of disappointed ren fairies when their fair gets postponed for another year or shut down completely for good.
All this because the owners thought they could pull a fast on and run this event with temporary permits. Sad
From an email I received from the Ren Faire "The online petition is to show the Commissioners that we have the
support of the local community, the state and people across the nation
for the Faire. It also shows that tourists come from across the nation
to Mason County for the Faire."
ok Jim you are displaying ignorance, the permit was recommended by the COUNTY, its in the notes on their permits they have. Fnarf you are also displaying ignorance, they only cut down a few trees TO CLEAR A FIRE ROAD because the Fire Warden told them to, and they had permits.
County Commissioner/Senator Tim Sheldon put the pressure on DNR to apply the moratorium ... Quote from the DNR "The department was notified by County Commissioner Sheldon that he had observed what he believed were unauthorized conversion activities on the land in question"
Either sign the petition and get over it or don't and stop bellyaching!
